Job Summary
The Vice President, Global Network Banker & Head of Global Network Banking – Nordics is a dual-mandate senior leadership role based in Stockholm, Sweden. This position combines hands-on coverage banking responsibilities across a portfolio of multinational corporations and their affiliates with strategic oversight and leadership of Citi's GNB business across the Nordic region, encompassing Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. As a senior coverage banker, this individual is responsible for identifying business opportunities, deepening client engagement, and coordinating the delivery of Citi's full suite of products and services across the Nordic network. As Head of GNB Nordics, the role holder will set the regional strategic agenda, drive business performance, and represent Citi's GNB franchise at the highest levels internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a commercially driven, relationship-focused senior banker with deep expertise in the Nordic corporate and banking market, proven regional leadership capabilities, and a track record of delivering strong revenue growth across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership – Head of GNB Nordics
Provide strategic vision and senior leadership for the GNB business across the Nordic region (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland), defining and executing the regional business plan in alignment with EMEA and global GNB objectives.
Serve as the primary senior representative of GNB Nordics, engaging with country management teams, regional leadership, product heads, risk, compliance, legal, and other key internal partners across the Nordic cluster.
Identify and capitalize on market opportunities across the Nordic corporate landscape to drive revenue growth and deepen Citi's penetration among multinational clients and their affiliates in the region.
Collaborate closely with Regional Account Managers (RAMs), Parent Account Managers (PAMs), Subsidiary Account Managers (SAMs), and product specialists to ensure Nordic-based clients receive a fully integrated, world-class Citi banking experience.
Own and monitor regional performance metrics, manage reporting obligations, and provide regular business updates and strategic reporting to EMEA GNB leadership.
Champion a culture of excellence, client-centricity, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the GNB Nordics team.
Lead, coach, and develop team members across the Nordic cluster — fostering a high-performance, inclusive team environment grounded in professional growth and commercial excellence.
2. Relationship Management & Coverage
Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders from local and regional buying centers across the Nordic region, providing high-value insights, strategic dialogue, and high-quality engagement at executive level.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's business model, corporate strategy, and financial wallet — including the specific characteristics of leading Nordic multinationals across industrials, TMT, energy, life sciences, and financial services — to identify and pursue revenue opportunities.
Maintain high-level engagement and strategic dialogue across the portfolio to position Citi as the core banking partner of choice for Nordic multinational corporations and their global affiliates.
Lead with a strong origination mindset — identifying, structuring, and executing top revenue wallet opportunities with commercial precision across the full Nordic client portfolio.
3. Origination & Coverage
Drive wallet share growth across a portfolio of Nordic multinational clients by identifying and converting opportunities across products, geographies, and business lines within Citi's global network.
Lead with solutions tailored to Nordic client needs, leveraging deep industry and sector insights while aligning closely with each client's global parent strategy and regional priorities.
Identify and pursue new client acquisition opportunities across the Nordic market, supporting the onboarding and expansion of new relationships to grow the GNB franchise in the region.
Manage the regional client pipeline effectively and collaborate with Nordic and global Product Specialists across Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), Markets, Trade Finance, and FX to deliver comprehensive, integrated banking solutions.
Act as the senior point of connectivity between Citi's global account management framework and local and regional client relationships across the Nordics.
4. Strategy & Credit
Align regional account activities with strategic initiatives, including comprehensive client planning, wallet sizing, corridor plays, and Nordic or product-specific business development campaigns.
Partner with product specialists and senior banking colleagues to design and implement sophisticated, multi-product solutions — including liquidity management structures, cross-border financing, and supply chain solutions — tailored to the needs of Nordic multinationals.
Maintain strong credit knowledge and provide senior-level contribution to the assessment, structuring, and management of client credit needs across the Nordic portfolio.
Ensure robust understanding of regulatory environments across the Nordics, including Finansinspektionen (Sweden), Finanstilsynet (Denmark/Norway), and Finanssivalvonta (Finland), as well as applicable EU regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications:
Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate or commercial banking, with a demonstrated track record in coverage banking, relationship management, origination, and regional business leadership; prior experience managing a multi-country business unit or contributing to P&L ownership is preferred; deep familiarity with the Nordic corporate and banking market across multiple jurisdictions is essential.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams across multiple countries within a matrix organization; comfortable operating with significant autonomy at a senior level while maintaining strong connectivity with global and regional stakeholders.
Client & Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nordic multinational clients, key sector dynamics (industrials, TMT, energy, life sciences, financial services), economic trends, and the relevant regulatory and compliance environment across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland.
Credit Skills: Strong credit understanding and risk assessment capabilities, with the ability to assess, structure, and articulate sophisticated credit solutions for complex, multinational client portfolios.
Product Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of corporate banking products, particularly Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), FX, Markets, and Trade Finance; familiarity with cross-border liquidity and financing structures is essential.
Strategic Acumen: Ability to translate global and EMEA GNB priorities into actionable, locally relevant coverage strategies — identifying growth levers and commercial opportunities across the Nordic market.
Communication: Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills; the ability to engage confidently and influence credibly at C-suite and senior executive level, both internally and externally across a culturally diverse Nordic environment.
Languages: Fluency in Swedish and English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in additional Nordic languages (Danish, Norwegian, or Finnish) is strongly advantageous.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.
A Master's degree (e.g., MBA) or professional qualification (e.g., CFA) is strongly preferred.
Location:
Stockholm, Sweden (with regional coverage across Denmark, Norway, and Finland)
This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
