About Global Network Banking
Citi's Global Network Banking (GNB) is a cornerstone of our international franchise, dedicated to serving the dynamic needs of multinational corporations as they expand and operate across the globe. Leveraging Citi's unparalleled network spanning over 90 countries, GNB provides a single, integrated platform for clients to manage their global banking needs. Our role is to deliver the full breadth of Citi's solutions — from cash management, trade finance and FX management to strategic advisory and credit — enabling our clients to navigate the complexities of international markets, optimize their treasury and supply chain operations, manage risks and achieve their global growth ambitions.
Job Summary
The Vice President, Global Network Banker is a senior coverage banker within Citi's Global Network Banking team in Denmark. This role is focused on managing and growing Citi's relationships with multinational corporations and their affiliates across Citi's global network, with a strong emphasis on identifying business opportunities, deepening client engagement, and driving revenue growth within the Danish market. Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, the VP Global Network Banker works closely with product partners, banking teams, and the GNB Head of Nordics to deliver solutions fully aligned with client objectives and Citi's global strategy. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the Danish corporate banking landscape and the broader Nordic market, a strong track record in coverage banking and origination, and the commercial drive to position Citi as the core banking partner for Denmark's leading multinational corporations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Relationship Management & Coverage
Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders from local and regional buying centers across Denmark, providing high-value market insights, strategic dialogue, and high-quality engagement at senior executive level.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's business model, corporate strategy, and financial wallet — including the specific dynamics of Denmark's leading multinationals across pharmaceuticals, shipping, renewable energy, consumer goods, and financial services — to identify and actively pursue revenue opportunities.
Maintain high-level engagement and strategic dialogue across the Danish portfolio to position Citi as the core banking partner of choice, deepening wallet penetration and expanding the breadth of Citi's solutions deployed.
Lead with a strong origination mindset — identifying, structuring, and executing top revenue wallet opportunities with commercial discipline and precision across the full Danish client portfolio.
Operate in close coordination with the GNB Head of Nordics and broader Nordic GNB team to ensure seamless regional connectivity, consistency of coverage, and a unified client experience.
2. Origination & Coverage
Drive wallet share growth across a portfolio of Danish multinational clients by identifying and converting opportunities across products, geographies, and business lines within Citi's global network.
Lead with tailored banking solutions aligned to Danish market dynamics and sector-specific insights — including key Danish sectors such as pharmaceuticals (Novo Nordisk ecosystem), shipping and logistics, renewable energy, and consumer goods — while aligning with each client's global parent strategy.
Identify and pursue new client acquisition opportunities within Denmark, supporting the onboarding and expansion of new relationships to grow the GNB franchise in the Danish market.
Manage the local client pipeline effectively and collaborate with in-country and Nordic Product Specialists across Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), Markets, Trade Finance, and FX to deliver comprehensive, integrated banking solutions.
Act as a key point of connectivity between Citi's global account management framework (RAMs/PAMs/SAMs) and local client relationships in Denmark, ensuring seamless coordination within the broader Nordic GNB coverage model.
3. Strategy & Credit
Align account activities with strategic initiatives, including comprehensive client planning, wallet sizing, corridor plays, and Denmark or Nordic product-specific business development campaigns.
Partner with product specialists and senior banking colleagues to design and implement sophisticated, multi-product solutions — including liquidity management structures, cross-border financing, and supply chain solutions — tailored to the needs of Danish multinationals.
Maintain strong credit knowledge and actively contribute to the assessment, structuring, and management of client credit needs within the Danish portfolio.
Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the Danish regulatory environment, including Finanstilsynet requirements and applicable EU frameworks governing corporate banking, AML/KYC compliance, and cross-border banking activity.
Qualifications:
Experience: 6+ years of experience in corporate or commercial banking, with a demonstrated track record in coverage banking, relationship management, and origination; prior experience within the Danish or broader Nordic corporate banking market is strongly preferred; familiarity with key Danish sectors (pharmaceuticals, shipping, renewable energy) is a distinct advantage.
Client & Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of Danish multinational clients, key sector dynamics, economic trends, and the relevant Danish and EU regulatory and compliance environment, including Finanstilsynet requirements.
Credit Skills: Strong credit understanding and risk assessment capabilities, with the ability to assess, structure, and articulate credit solutions for complex, multinational client portfolios.
Product Knowledge: Strong knowledge of corporate banking products, particularly Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), FX, Markets, and Trade Finance; experience with cross-border liquidity and financing structures is advantageous.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to navigate and lead complex, multi-product deal teams and engage credibly at senior executive level both internally and externally.
Communication: Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills; ability to engage confidently and influence credibly across all levels of an organization — from local treasury and finance teams to global C-suite stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in Danish and English (written and spoken) is required; additional Nordic language skills are advantageous.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.
A Master's degree (e.g., MBA, cand.merc.) or professional qualification (e.g., CFA) is strongly preferred.
This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
