Job Overview

Join our dynamic Forecasting, Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team within U.S. Consumer Cards Marketing. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical financial processes, specifically overseeing Marketing Expenses and Customer Incentives. You will be instrumental in managing marketing spend through monthly forecasting and reporting, providing valuable insights to drive strategic decision-making. Responsibilities:

Financial Forecasting & Planning:

  • Gather and integrate forecasts and plan inputs for Marketing Expenses and Customer Incentives from various organizational stakeholders.
  • Lead the monthly marketing expense and contra-revenue forecasting process across diverse lines of business
  • This team also provides shared capabilities to Wealth Marketing, including the Retail Bank, Citigold, and Mortgage segments
  • Develop and present comprehensive forecast reports for each marketing focus area, distilling complex data into clear, senior-level presentations.
  • Proactively identify budget risks and opportunities, recommending strategies to optimize marketing spending through reinvestment or reallocation.
  • Close monitoring of accruals and proficient reporting of expenses, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Support the preparation of annual plans and long-range planning initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Partnership:

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with Marketing teams, Finance, Controllers, Product Management, Operations, and Analytics to ensure alignment and effective financial management.
  • Collaborate with key partners/stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects related to reporting automation and process transformation.

System Enhancement & Project Management:

  • Work with the proprietary Marketing Expense platform (Marketing Resource Management) on system enhancements, contributing to ideation, gathering, and documenting business requirements.
  • Manage individual project responsibilities, including milestone setting, task and action management, and coordinating project execution to meet timelines and quality expectations.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with business stakeholders, support, testing, and development team members.
  • Identify and manage project risks to resolution, escalating as appropriate.

Strategic Impact & Compliance:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for senior stakeholders and team members on marketing expense management.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, demonstrating autonomy and initiative.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) or as an expense or revenue analyst, preferably within the Financial Services or Investment Banking industry.
  • Familiarity with consumer banking (credit card, retail bank) products and P&Ls
  • Advanced working knowledge of the full cycle of expense management, including proficient reporting of expenses and a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with strong skills in modeling creating executive presentations.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and the ability to analyze large, complex datasets to create impactful reports.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools is a plus.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Capabilities:

  • Highly analytical with a strong understanding of key business drivers and the ability to identify budget risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to challenge processes and seek innovative solutions.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and master new concepts, requirements, and product/functional knowledge.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions and build consensus across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong team player with proven relationship management skills, capable of collaborating and gaining buy-in from diverse stakeholders (Marketing, Analytics, Product, Finance, Controllers, Operations).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of projects.

Business Acumen:

  • Broad understanding of consumer banking and the key drivers of P&L.
  • Proven ability to lead process transformation initiatives, driving efficiency and improvement.
  • Project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Understanding of business strategies and investment needs.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
