Job Overview
Citi is looking for a Senior Vice President, Markets Data Risk Transformation Lead to lead large-scale data transformation programs and own the sustainable control framework that underpins the Markets Data Risk target operating model. Based in Budapest and sitting within the Markets COO function, this role combines strategic program delivery with hands-on ownership of data governance, data quality controls, and operational effectiveness across key Markets data domains. You will partner with Trading, Market Risk, Finance, Technology, Quantitative Analytics, and Control functions to deliver meaningful improvements to Citi's risk and data control environment at a global scale.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic data transformation programs across Markets, covering trade population, trade attributes, market data, reference data, business and product hierarchies, and pricing environments.
Define and implement target-state operating models, governance frameworks, and scalable control solutions that align with regulatory expectations and business objectives.
Design, implement, and continuously enhance controls across critical Markets data domains, including Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and associated data quality validations.
Assess end-to-end data flows to identify control gaps and data quality issues, then lead remediation through sustainable, cross-asset solutions.
Own and evolve the ongoing Markets Data Risk control framework, establishing monitoring, escalation, and governance processes that support long-term operational effectiveness.
Lead working groups and governance forums with senior business, technology, risk, and finance stakeholders, and prepare executive-level communications for senior leadership, Internal Audit, and regulators.
Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team with deep expertise in data analytics and risk controls, building capability as the organization matures into an enhanced operating model.
Lead a small team of analysts focused on Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and associated data quality validations.
Required qualifications & skills
10 or more years of experience in Markets data, data governance, data transformation, market risk, product control, valuation control, or data analytics within financial services.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex, cross-functional transformation programs within Markets or equivalent capital markets environments, spanning multiple asset classes including Equities, Rates, FX, Spread Products, and Commodities.
Deep knowledge of Markets products, trade lifecycle processes, valuation methodologies, and associated data structures, including trade population, market data, reference data, and data lineage.
Expertise in data governance and data quality management, including Critical Data Element (CDE) frameworks and validation of data quality issues at process touchpoints in complex technology environments.
Extensive experience designing, implementing, and monitoring controls within a first or second line of defense environment, including Manager Control Assessment (MCA) frameworks in trading environments.
Strong business analysis, change management, and stakeholder management capabilities, with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and governance forums.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python/Jupyter, and Tableau for data analysis, mining, and visualization, alongside advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Beneficial skills & qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as finance, data science, mathematics, or a related field.
Familiarity with project delivery tools including JIRA, Confluence, and MS Project.
Experience with data modeling and data management practices within large-scale financial services technology environments.
