Job Overview

The Wealth Global Issue Management Head is responsible for structuring end-to-end Issues Management solutions and driving and holistic view of Issues Management efforts across the Wealth Business. The position is responsible for ensuring effective oversight of the Issues Management activities, working cross-functionally, identifying, and managing interdependencies between the various lines of businesses to deliver on timely issue closures and quality goals.  The leader will champion a proactive and holistic approach to design issue remediation, focused on root cause analysis, and remediation, ensuring transparency, accountability, on-time resolution, and sustainable corrective actions. The leader will ensure clear transparency on progress against corrective action plans and escalate concerns early enough to course correct.

This position provides strategic insights and thought leadership to evaluate the Issues Management program and oversee Wealth’s issue portfolio comprised of findings from internal and external reviews as well as self-identified issues. The leader will provide senior management with clear, concise, and actionable insights into the health of our remediation and the effectiveness of our issue management processes, with a particular focus on regulatory compliance, adherence to remediation timelines and performance against key performance indicators. This role demands a strategic thinker with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, drive change, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and implement a global issue management strategy aligned with the Wealth business's strategic objectives and the firm's overall risk management framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations for issue remediation and prevention.

  • Team Management: Lead and develop a large team of issue management professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, with a strong emphasis on accountability for on-time and sustainable remediation.

  • Issue Oversight: Drive the holistic identification, management, and oversight of issues, ensuring thorough root cause analysis, clear accountability, and timely and effective remediation of control gaps, with a focus on developing sustainable solutions that prevent recurrence. Implement governance protocols to manage on time delivery and quality closure of issues.

  • Senior Management Communication: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing regular updates on significant issues, regulatory matters, and the overall effectiveness of the issue management program, including progress against remediation timelines and the sustainability of corrective actions.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve issue management processes, reduce resolution timeframes, and enhance efficiency, while ensuring that improvements are sustainable and aligned with regulatory expectations.

  • Effective Challenge: Lead an effective challenge program over the Wealth business's most critical issues and regulatory matters, driving successful and timely issue closure and risk reduction, with a focus on validating the effectiveness and sustainability of remediation efforts.

  • Performance Measurement: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track issue resolution timeframes, on time issue activation, on time remediation, issue reopens, efficiency gains, and other relevant metrics, including metrics related to the sustainability of remediation and compliance with regulatory timelines.

  • Transformation Initiatives: Provide Wealth support and leadership in the implementation of transformation initiatives related to issue management, ensuring that regulatory requirements are fully integrated into the design and implementation of new processes and systems.

  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the development and execution of effective quality assurance programs for issue management activities, with a focus on validating the effectiveness and sustainability of remediation efforts and adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Relationship Management: Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with critical internal business partners across all lines of defense, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for issue management and regulatory compliance.

  • Talent Development: Maintain strong connections with the broader team, driving employee engagement and development, with a focus on building expertise in regulatory requirements and best practices for issue management.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience within financial services, with a proven track record of leading issue management, operational risk, and/or change management initiatives within a large, global bank.

  • Deep understanding of wealth management products, services, and regulatory requirements, including specific knowledge of regulatory expectations for issue remediation and prevention.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic solutions to complex problems, with a focus on sustainable solutions that meet regulatory requirements.

  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, with a strong emphasis on accountability for on-time and sustainable remediation.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to senior management and other stakeholders, including the ability to articulate the regulatory implications of issues and the effectiveness of remediation efforts.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify root causes and develop effective remediation plans, with a focus on sustainable solutions that prevent recurrence.

  • Strong knowledge of risk and control frameworks, including regulatory expectations for risk management and control effectiveness.

  • Proven ability to drive change in a matrixed, regulated, and resource-constrained environment, with a strong track record of achieving regulatory compliance.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
