Job Overview
The Senior Process Engineer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Responsibilities:
- Function effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering project team and ensure delivery of a process solution that meets the required outcomes and budget.
- Assess innovation opportunities.
- Identify new sources of growth, including new value propositions.
- Optimize business and operating models.
- Simplify organizational structures.
- Create industrial-strength franchise processes.
- Collaborate with business and function managers to identify significant opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization.
- Develop compelling executive presentations that recommend and persuade specific courses of action for decision makers.
- Develop and maintain rigorous project plans and manage tactical project needs, including resource requirements, relationship management, and task management.
- Develop and share best practices and lessons learned across the enterprise.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
- Drive qualitative and quantitative analysis, addressing ambiguity in available data and input.
- Formulate hypotheses and identify actionable insights that challenge the status quo.
- Independently develop stand-alone portions of executive documents.
- Effectively communicate complex concepts to senior executive audiences.
- Build relationships with and influence senior stakeholders on path forward.
- Manage small teams, including productivity and business resources, to achieve results.
- Structure and execute own workstream; anticipate issues and put in place mitigation strategies; see dependencies and connectivity across workstreams.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in process engineering.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Bias for action; track record of driving parts of large scale transformations and/or implementation of high-impact initiatives.
- Well-versed in a range of problem solving approaches and capable of optimizing techniques to yield the best results.
- Knowledge of the financial service industry and technology organizations.
- Ability to travel a proportion of the time.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

The U.S. Personal Banking (USPB) Chief Operating Office team is focused on strategic growth and operational excellence across the USPB franchise. This highly visible team drives a broad portfolio of strategic initiatives and business management activities ranging from growth strategy, digital transformation, expense productivity, talent and performance management, and operating model efficiency. Initiatives are typically team-based and include heavy interaction and collaboration with business / functional heads and their teams. The team is composed of top performers from top strategy consulting firms and other internal Citi groups.
The successful candidate for this position will work as an individual contributor within a small team. The position presents an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to:
Be exposed to and influence the agendas of senior management
Build knowledge and experience within a variety of businesses and functions in personal banking
Build relationship and network with leaders across the personal bank
Responsibilities:
Support critical initiatives to develop and implement reporting and analytics for strategic expense management and resource allocations, to drive identification of insights, best practices and inform decision-making
Demonstrate command over all data and analysis relevant to the project or work stream, with understanding of key drivers and levers
Assist with impactful visual representations of metrics to aid understanding, enabling users, including executive leadership, to easily interpret insights and identify strategic decisions
Structure and build quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting for Business Execution, including expenses, hiring, scorecard performance, location strategy and organizational design
Effectively collaborate, interact, and maintain relationships with business stakeholders, Finance, subject matter experts
Proactively deliver against own work plan, adhering to strong quality standards, with minimal supervision
Assist with development of CEO-level presentations and other ad hoc requests as necessary
Multi-task productively and reliably, while managing conflicting priorities
Qualifications:
10+ years overall experience required
Knowledge of consumer financial services; demonstrates clear understanding of the drivers of performance and decision making to maximize results
Strong understanding of financial statements and expense management, with demonstrated expertise in Excel-based modeling and analytics
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with ability to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources
Self-motivated and well organized, with strong problem-solving skills. Proven track record with ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize accordingly and make decisions as required
Education
An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline
