Job Overview
Join Citi Commercial Bank’s Natural Resources team in Houston as a VP Relationship Associate, where you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional banking experiences to our energy sector clients. This is a high-impact position that combines strategic client relationship management with operational excellence, supporting a diverse portfolio of ~80 clients across the natural resources industry.
As a trusted partner to our banking team, you'll be the critical link between clients, relationship managers, and internal product specialists—ensuring seamless service delivery and driving client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Client Relationship & Service Excellence
Build and maintain relationships with bankers, internal operational teams, product specialists, and clients, becoming the go-to resource for complex requests, problem escalation, and swift resolution
Deliver proactive client support by anticipating needs, coordinating cross-functional resources, and ensuring clients receive world-class service across Citi's global platform
Facilitate global connectivity by helping clients leverage Citi's international network, connecting them with local coverage teams and product expertise worldwide
Operational Leadership & Execution
Coordinate treasury account management including account openings, maintenance, and servicing coordination across various treasury operations teams
Drive seamless client onboarding by partnering with Relationship Managers and product teams to efficiently set up new clients and subsidiaries, ensuring all KYC and initial credit requirements are completed accurately and on time
Ensure regulatory compliance by managing timely completion of Know Your Client (KYC) documentation and other regulatory requirements in collaboration with product partners and bankers
Data Integrity & Documentation
Maintain accurate client records including legal and marketing hierarchies across internal systems
Document client interactions by ensuring periodic support discussions are properly recorded and accessible
Safeguard firm reputation by appropriately assessing risk in business decisions, demonstrating sound ethical judgment, and escalating control issues with transparency while adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
7+ years of experience in commercial banking, with demonstrated expertise in client relationship management and banking operations
Familiarity with treasury products and services
Knowledge of global banking operations and international client servicing
Experience with KYC/AML processes and regulatory compliance
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate complex client needs and build trusted relationships across all organizational levels
Proven problem-solving abilities with a track record of coordinating cross-functional teams to resolve client issues efficiently
Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Risk management acumen with understanding of compliance requirements and regulatory frameworks in commercial banking
Education:
Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree
