Job Overview

The Product Manager is a senior management level position responsible for managing a broad range of Product Management employees, setting strategy and providing direction, leadership and budgetary management, etc. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the development of product plans, strategies, and tactics while coordinating product lines through product life-cycles in coordination with the broader Product Management team. The overall objective of this role is to coordinate the promotion of products to develop new markets, increase share of market and obtain competitive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Product Managers and/or multiple teams to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
  • Manage strategic program roadmap, development, launch, and marketing to gain maximum benefit from each product
  • Supervise day-to-day product management for core products such as product delivery, client experience, and client communication strategies as well as help the team prioritize, negotiate, and remove obstacles to achieve business results
  • Drive client value propositions, positioning, segmentation, pricing, targeting, channel strategies, and competitive differentiation to achieve preferred status as a partner to Citi clients
  • Develop plans and execute functional strategies for a country, multiple countries, region, or business requiring coordination and integration across units as well as provide input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business
  • Manage client and competitor market research, develop product innovation roadmap, and address fundamental trials of product commoditization to create an advanced set of solutions
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of program life cycle management including market demands, technology trends, and the competitive field
  • Drive towards to achievement of acquisition targets, product financial performance, revenue performance, and expense management goals as well as oversee identification and execution of opportunities and gaps business plans
  • Develop and communicate a business plan to approach the marketplace, and coordinate and implement team procedures, client problem resolutions and client management
  • Lead innovation by working with external partners/alliances to develop products, manage ongoing relationships, exercise control over resources, policy formation, and planning, and prepare agreements
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, specialized analytics or related discipline
  • Broad and diverse function experience in marketing, credit, acquisitions, product development and analytics
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

Team/Role Overview:

Cross-Border Payments is a key strength and differentiator for Citi, given the significant depth of the branch network and years of operating experience, many of them exceeding 100+ years. The depth of local operations coupled with years of experience dealing with regulators and multiple market participants, FMI and other network partners makes Citi’s Cross-Border business extremely robust and amongst the largest business in the industry as well as within the Citi’s Services offering.

Citi has a tracking record in Global Payments and Clearing services delivering more than $4 trillion payments daily into 160 countries across 140 currencies, we support global payments with local expertise.

What you’ll do:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Payments Director to lead the Cross-Border Payments & Clearing strategy, operations, and product development. This role will be critical in ensuring operational resilience, driving product innovation, and overseeing end-to-end project execution.

Responsible for the P&L of Cross-Border Payments & Clearing solutions that contribute to an annual revenue budget of $16MM and for leading the execution of aggressive growth plans.

The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in payments ecosystems with strong leadership, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the development of product plans, strategies, and tactics while coordinating product lines through product life cycles in coordination with the broader Product Management team. The overall objective of this role is to coordinate the promotion of products to develop new markets, increase share of market and obtain competitive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive development and enhancement of payments products and services across cross-border segments.
  • Build and maintain a robust operational resilience framework for payment systems, ensuring continuity, redundancy, and rapid recovery capabilities. Oversee incident management related to cross border payments in partnership with risk, technology, and compliance teams.
  • Manage strategic program roadmap, development, launch, and marketing to gain maximum benefit from each product.
  • Supervise day-to-day product management for core products such as product delivery, client experience, and client communication strategies as well as help the team prioritize, negotiate, and remove obstacles to achieve business results.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Significant years of relevant payments experience across product management or operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of payments, cash management, SWIFT, FX, ecommerce, and emerging payment flows.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and credibility to lead and influence wide ranging stakeholder base.
  • Problem solving skills; organization, ability to multitask and apply good judgement. Ability to efficiently prioritize and work under pressure across time zones to meet deadlines and client commitments.
  • Strong execution skills, thorough follow-through & attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong presentation skills and competence in MS Office.
  • Good understanding of the competitive landscape, client requirements, and other competing solutions would be a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.  Master’s degree preferred.
