We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Vice President - Fine Art Curator - Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Vice President - C13) based in Mumbai, India. In this role, you’re expected to:
The Curator is a specialized role that supports Citi’s Global Curator in managing Citi’s art and heritage programs that includes corporate fine art and archival collections. The Curator also serves as the local representative of the Citi Center for Culture, which is the custodian of the firm’s art and heritage (historic archives) collections. The art collection supports the brand internally and externally and provides an engaging workplace that promotes creativity and collaboration, while acknowledging the rich cultural heritage of the countries. Citi is not actively acquiring art, and the existing art collection is the foundation of the art in the country/ cluster.
This role is based in Mumbai with primary responsibility of managing art and heritage programs and inventory management at Citi sites in India and additionally, oversee the collection across Citi’s Asia clusters. As part of this responsibility, the Curator will also oversee country/ cluster initiatives working with internal and external partners to ensure the safe removal, transport, storage and installation of art for complex, multi-site projects.
Responsibilities:
Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to manage the daily safe care in the placement, movement, and storage of art at locations in the country.
Maintaining updates to the art inventory database (TMS) to reflect changes in artwork locations, identifying data, and documentary information.
Engaging and supervising third-party art services providers, including art shippers, handlers, conservators, and appraisers.
Partnering with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to develop and implement art strategies that support Citi’s global art program goals and client engagement initiatives,
Planning and executing select viewings of the art collection for key clients and visitors.
Developing contacts and partnerships with internal stakeholders for relationship building, acquisition of new materials, and supporting new pitches. Connect with other corporate archivists to share knowledge about providing value in their organizations.
Support all Citi Operating Expense Governance Policy initiatives, risk evaluations, reporting requirements; reconcile program invoices, manage payments applicable to program initiatives undertaken in country/ cluster.
Qualifications:
8+ years work experience of working as a curator with an understanding of art collection management, collection care, and conservation.
Demonstrated knowledge of the modern history of art of South Asia.
Experience working within a corporate environment is preferred but not required.
Desired Skills:
Proven track record in managing art programs and executing multiple projects with tight budgets and timelines.
Must be able to handle multiple high visibility projects simultaneously and have the ability to prioritise and work under pressure with limited supervision.
Must possess strong project management, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Ability to collaborate, lead/ facilitate discussions across various levels of stakeholders/support partners, including with senior/ C-suite level stakeholders.
Collaborative team player orientation; willing to work with colleagues and external partners globally in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Knowledge of latest event trends, industry innovations and technologies.
Ability to communicate complex and/or technical information effectively. Must possess strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret data and create high level summaries, rationales and detailed reports.
Excellent research and writing skills.
Solid work ethic and willingness to take on and plan/ lead new initiatives independently.
Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal and written. Must have proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of an additional/ local language(s) would be an advantage.
Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
Flexibility in work hours - must be able to work non-traditional hours and weekends and have a flexible travel schedule when required.
Must be willing to travel 5-10% of time.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/ University degree or equivalent experience
An advanced degree in art history, fine arts, or museum studies. is prefered
