Job Overview

This is an opportunity to launch your career in financial operations at Citi, one of the world's leading global banks, where you will play a hands-on role processing and settling client payment transactions within the Operations team. As a Payments Operations Analyst, you will ensure that client payment instructions are executed with precision — capturing accurate amounts, currencies, and beneficiary details to deliver reliable, timely outcomes for Citi's clients. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional who is motivated to build a long-term career in banking operations.

Responsibilities

• Process client payment instructions accurately, verifying transaction amounts, currencies, and beneficiary details to ensure every settlement is completed correctly and on time.
• Verify and confirm trade bookings against established templates to maintain the accuracy of transaction records across the payments lifecycle.
• Complete daily settlement tasks and rate revaluations, ensuring all processing deadlines are consistently met.
• Coordinate with the relevant internal teams to resolve transaction processing queries, working collaboratively toward timely and effective solutions.
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate records in line with regulatory and operational requirements.
• Prepare and submit periodic reports for both internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, contributing to the team's compliance obligations.
• Participate in General Ledger review exercises, supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Identify and escalate potential operational or control issues transparently, contributing to a well-managed and compliant operating environment.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to capture and process data such as payment amounts, currencies, and beneficiary information accurately under operational conditions.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in English, both written and spoken, sufficient to operate in a professional banking environment.
• Foundational knowledge of financial or banking environments, whether gained through academic study, internships, or early work experience.
• Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with colleagues across teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms, with a willingness to apply them in day-to-day work.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Up to 2 years of experience in a banking, financial services, or operations role, though recent graduates with no prior experience are equally encouraged to apply.
• Basic understanding of treasury products, accounting principles, or regulatory frameworks applicable to financial institutions.
• Demonstrated interest in building a career within a global banking environment, with a proactive attitude toward learning and professional development.
