Job Overview

Citi is looking for an Application Developer Analyst to join the Engineering Excellence Consumer Operations Technology team, contributing to the design, development, and quality assurance of business-critical application systems. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to build, test, and enhance software solutions that directly support Citi's consumer operations. This is an opportunity to grow your technical foundations in a high-impact environment at one of the world's leading financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enhancements to application systems by applying knowledge of development procedures, concepts, and cross-functional technical areas to solve clearly defined business problems.
  • Build and execute automated test scripts to validate application functionality, identify defects, and ensure software quality across development and release cycles.
  • Analyze application issues, evaluate potential solutions, and implement fixes that align with business processes and industry standards.
  • Write clean, maintainable code to fulfill design specifications, using scripting tools and debugging techniques to deliver reliable outcomes.
  • Develop working knowledge of Citi's application systems, network operations, database administration, and client-server architecture to support delivery across the full development lifecycle.
  • Assess and adapt solutions in situations not fully covered by existing procedures, using sound technical judgment to determine the most appropriate approach.
  • Identify and escalate risk and compliance considerations in technical decisions, ensuring that application changes meet required standards and controls.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in application development, software testing, or a related technical discipline.

Core Technical Proficiencies

    • Programming / Scripting: Strong proficiency in at least one core language: Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or C#.
    • Test Automation Frameworks:UI Testing: Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium.API Testing: REST Assured, Karate Framework, Postman/Newman, SoapUI.BDD/TDD: Cucumber, SpecFlow, or TestNG/JUnit.
    • CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with Git/Bitbucket/GitHub, Jenkins, Tekton, Docker, and pipeline execution tools.
    • Databases & Querying: Relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB), with ability to write complex SQL queries for test data validation.
    • Service Virtualization & Mocks: Mockito, WireMock, or similar tooling.
    • Test Management & Bug Tracking: JIRA, Xray/Zephyr, Confluence, HP ALM/Octane.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Exposure to consumer operations technology environments or financial services application development.
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practices in software quality assurance and test automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with client-server architecture, database administration concepts, or systems administration practices.
