About the team

The Credit Financing team is part of the Spread Products division within Markets. The team focuses on customised financing solutions for strategic clients, including large alternative investment managers and institutional investors globally. Facilities are backed by a range of assets, including broadly syndicated loans, private credit, corporate bonds and, increasingly, AI-related infrastructure including GPU and TPU compute assets. Transactions are primarily retained on Citi's balance sheet but may also be securitised or syndicated to third parties.

The team is small, highly collaborative and has built a market-leading lending franchise over close to two decades. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced practitioners and engage regularly with teams across the bank, including risk, operations, sales, legal, tax and accounting.

The role

We are seeking a VP-level structurer to join the Credit Financing team in Hong Kong. The candidate will play a key role in growing our credit financing franchise across Asia, working on all aspects of the transaction lifecycle from origination through to ongoing portfolio management.

The candidate will take ownership of transactions end to end, including term sheet drafting, negotiation, documentation and deal closing. They will engage directly with clients and internal partners, with a focus on delivering complex, bespoke financing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the origination and structuring of credit financing facilities backed by portfolios of corporate credit, including broadly syndicated loans and private credit assets
• Support the expansion of the team's AI infrastructure financing activity in Asia, including facilities backed by GPU and TPU compute assets and structured around take-or-pay compute contracts with high-quality offtakers
• Draft transaction term sheets, manage client negotiations and review transaction documentation
• Identify structural, credit and market risk factors in prospective facilities, and present risk mitigation strategies clearly to internal risk partners
• Originate and develop innovative financing solutions for clients in Asia, with a particular focus on complex transactions
• Work with potential syndicate partners to distribute risk where appropriate
• Collaborate with Citi's risk, technology, operations and onboarding teams to implement transactions efficiently
• Coordinate periodic reviews with borrowers and internal and external partners to stay current on portfolio developments and broader market trends
• Assist in the preparation of pitch materials, situation analyses and management presentations
• Contribute to the growth of the Credit Financing business in Asia through active client engagement and market development

Qualifications Required

• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in financial services
• Client-facing experience in a structured finance, credit or capital markets role
• Solid understanding of the corporate credit market, including leveraged loans, corporate bonds, private credit and CLOs
• Knowledge of fund structures, SPV/SPE frameworks and lending structures
• Familiarity with alternative assets, including direct lending and private equity
• Good foundation in financial statement analysis in a corporate debt context
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team player with the ability to manage multiple workstreams under time pressure

Also of interest

• Candidates with a background in investment banking, including DCM, infrastructure debt or other relevant IB advisory roles, are encouraged to apply. Structuring and execution experience in these areas translates well to the demands of this role
• Familiarity with asset-backed or infrastructure-style financing, including facilities backed by physical assets or long-term contracted cash flows, would be relevant given the team's growing AI infrastructure activity
• Experience working in or covering Asia Pacific markets
