Job Overview

Citi is looking for a Financial Institutions Sales Director, to lead and grow strategic client relationships across the Canadian Banks, Broker-Dealers, and Non-Bank Financial Institutions segments, including Fintechs, Asset Managers, and Insurance firms. In this senior role, you will own the end-to-end sales process for complex Cash Management and Trade solutions, directly shaping Citi's revenue growth and market position across the financial institutions landscape. Sitting within Citi's global Services business, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the Bank to deliver measurable client outcomes and drive new business origination.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and grow strategic relationships with major global and regional financial institution clients, with a primary focus on Banks and Broker-Dealers headquartered in Canada.
  • Lead complex cash management and trade deals from origination to close, including RFP responses, client pitches, and the recommendation of tailored, innovative solutions.
  • Build and maintain a targeted pipeline of new business opportunities, actively pursuing underpenetrated client segments and winning new cash and trade mandates through proactive outreach.
  • Develop account plans for all key clients, identifying buying centres, cross-sell opportunities, and strategies to retain and grow revenue volumes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to financial institution clients on complex treasury, cash management, and trade challenges, representing Citi at industry forums and in senior client conversations.
  • Partner closely with Client Executives, Bankers, Product, Implementation, and Service teams to ensure seamless deal execution and client ramp-up.
  • Manage key balance sheet drivers including assets and liabilities, and collaborate with Banking on client credit risk considerations to support sound, sustainable deal structures.
  • Uphold rigorous standards across compliance, KYC, and regulatory requirements, maintaining a well-controlled environment across all client activity and pipeline management.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 12 or more years of relevant experience in financial services sales, with a focus on cash management, trade finance, or treasury solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow large, complex client relationships with Financial Institutions
  • Track record of winning new business and delivering revenue growth in a competitive, solutions-led sales environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed organization, coordinating across multiple internal functions to deliver client outcomes.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to engage credibly with senior client stakeholders and internal leadership in both written and verbal settings.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills, with the ability to manage a multi-client portfolio and prioritize effectively across competing demands.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the initiative to identify and pursue new opportunities without relying on existing structures or inbound demand.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification; a Master's degree is an advantage.
  • Experience with CRM pipeline management tools and familiarity with structured deal review and implementation governance processes.
  • Exposure to balance sheet management concepts, including assets, liabilities, and credit risk in a client-facing banking context.
  • Experience representing an organization at external industry forums, conferences, or client advisory events.
