Job Overview

Responsibilities:

Monitor transactions under Transactional Secured, Borrowing Base (BBF), Pre-export and Pre-payment facilities.

Review transaction and manage interactions with internal departments and external parties, including clients, to ensure effective delivery within target turnaround times.

Review client drawdown requests, including the analysis of transaction, sales contracts and security documentation to ensure that transactions are in accordance with the terms of the approved facilities.

Monitor transactional financing exposures and collateral values and tenors within the Triquesta Collateral Monitoring System to ensure sufficient collateral is always in place to satisfy the requirements of Citibank policies and procedures.

Ensure that the exposure within the Triquesta system matches the exposure in the back-office systems

To assist with the checking of transactions created by colleagues to ensure that the transaction fits within agreed parameters and correct instructions are delivered to the processing teams for accurate execution.

Accompany Sales team on client visits if requested.

Help train and guide less experienced team members.

Liaising with clients on workability on LCs and Export LC confirmation requests

Key Accountabilities:

 1. Technical

Track the life cycle of transactions, including the issuance, confirmation and reimbursement of import and export letters of credit

Monitor the assets and liabilities under each secured transactional financing facility

Ensure that the requirements of different geographical locations are applied to commodity transactions to meet local business practises whilst satisfying Citibank policies and procedures

Maintain clear and concise positions per client ensuring that facility utilisation requests from clients fall within the agreed credit parameters and provide approval for each transaction to the back-office departments to enable appropriate execution

Report accurate positions for transactional financing per obligor and client group to the relevant Natural Resources team adhering to Citibank's risk management policies and procedures.

Obtain required approvals for any transactions that fall outside the agreed facility parameters

Escalate problems and issues to department manager.

Ability to understand and cover more complicated Transactional Facilities.

2. Risk Management and Compliance

Review potential compliance issues on any commodity transactions where there are compliance concerns, in conjunction with the relevant Product team members, liaising with local or global compliance officers for input and advice where required

Alert Product and Risk managers of any collateral shortfalls that are not covered in a timely manner

Ensure strong focus on Risk and Control in transaction processing.

Liaise with Legal teams and risk management as and when required

 Development Value:

Exposure to different aspects of international trade, including new products and structures relevant to CTF

Direct contact with external Citibank clients

Exposure to senior management across functions

Knowledge/Experience and Skills:

Good knowledge of international Commodity Trade Finance operations, including the issuance, confirmation, advising, negotiation and reimbursement of import and export letters of credit, guarantees, UPGs and letters of indemnity.

Experience of monitoring collateral under secured transactions under Metals, Softs and Oil Client facilities.

Knowledge of stock financing and warehouse releases.

Good knowledge of ICC UCP600 and ISP98 guidelines, incoterms and logistics around trade transactions.

Over 6 years’ experience of managing high value transactions for oil, softs and metals clients under secured facilities.

Good knowledge of hedging and TPA accounts

Good client services skills

Organisational and co-ordination skills

Strong inter-personal skills

Good oral and written communication skills

Good knowledge of Excel, word and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the Triquesta Collateral Management System an advantage

Ability to train and guide less experienced team members.

Competencies:

Confidence, self-motivation, enthusiasm and initiative

Ability to manage the complexities of international trade operations in a multi-party transactional environment

Ability to work with people from different backgrounds in a team environment

Ability to forge strong relationships with demanding front office partners.

Education:

Bachelor's/University degree, Master’s degree preferred or good A levels

Help set up middle office team to support NAM bookings
