Credit Risk Intmd Analyst
The Credit Risk Intmd Analyst is an integral role in the Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) Underwriting organization. The role’s mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring and credit administration as a partner to Risk and Banking's shared commitment to ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending.
The Credit Risk Intmd Analysts are responsible for a portfolio of relationships in the wholesale lending space, owning the Credit Risk Analysis for those relationships, and being responsible for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio. That includes the production of Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and the support to Ad-Hoc Transactions and Portfolio & Industry Reviews and Stress Testing.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi's Large Corporate, Public Sector, and Financial Institutions Clients by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors. Manages the risk associated with new and existing borrowing relationships through the following:
- Performs spreads of client business financial statements
- Recognizes potential client risk through early warning systems
- Performs periodic financial statement review
- Tracks established financial covenants
- Monitors compliance to borrowing base credit facility
- Accompanies Underwriter on customer site visits (when appropriate)
- Compliance with Citibank policies to ensure satisfactory ratings from internal and external auditors.
- Work closely with the Underwriter in formulation credit recommendations. Complete Credit Analysis Write-up Memos and Final Obligor Risk Ratings of Citi's Counterparties based on independent assessment and judgement completed on the due diligence of the client and industry knowledge to provide appropriate extensions of credit remaining within Risk appetite
- Continuous monitoring of the covered portfolio, including following industry trends, impacts to key relationships, and escalation of potential credit issues to Underwriter, Risk and Banking partners
- Partnership with applicable regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk in the implementation of credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years previous experience in a financial institution with a focus on credit analysis and spreading software.
- Analyze program results vs expectations / Develop Strategies and Criteria / Gather data and prepare data for analysis
Skills/Competencies:
- Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems.
- Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices.
- Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family.
- Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies.
- Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information.
- Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner.
- Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information.
- Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities.
- Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.
