Job Overview

The Head of Business Execution – CIO will report directly into the COO for Wealth and Matrix report into the CIO for Wealth and be a member of both the COO and CIO leadership teams.  

Citi Wealth is a leading provider of financial solutions for affluent, high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients around the world. Our Private Bankers, Financial Advisors and Product Specialists act as trusted advisors to many of the world’s most successful and influential individuals and families. We provide global insights informed by deep local knowledge and help deliver the complete financial management strategies that today’s wealth requires. Our comprehensive services are tailored to individuals and families, including entrepreneurs and business owners, single-and multi-family offices, senior corporate executives, next generation/inherited wealth, law firms and attorneys. From investment strategy, to banking, to lending and cash management we are here to support our clients comprehensively. Our goal is to deliver a premier level of service while helping clients preserve, grow and manage their wealth. The CIO is a critical function within Citi Wealth. The CIO team is comprised of approximately 100 employees, located across the world. The team includes multi-asset class strategists who travel to provide and explain market views to internal stakeholders and external clients, generating actionable investment content, risk management ideas, and helping create new product solutions. 

The Head of Business Execution – CIO will manage the day-to-day operations and assist in the re-design and implementation of the optimal operating model within a high growth business. This role is responsible for the end-to-end implementation of a robust framework and governance model that consistently drives business results across all global regions.

This role coordinates and manages essential activities, including tracking business financials, employee headcount, audits, business continuity, regulatory issues and other administrative or ad hoc projects as needed. This role will manage a small team of professionals based in NY and will be accountable for overall end results, budgeting, planning and policy formulation.

The Head of Business Execution – CIO will reinforce and support management across the group function, focusing on fostering a strong culture of controls and accountability. The individual will drive medium- to long-term plans, coordinate and oversee uplift programs across the CIO organization. They will also assist the leadership team in executing strategies requiring global coordination and integration across the CIO, contributing to commercial objectives and strategic direction.

An entrepreneurial mindset is essential for this position. A solid conceptual/practical grounding and experience within Wealth/the CIO function is highly preferred. This understand will enable the individual to effectively contribute to the business’s  commercial objectives and align the strategic direction of both Citi Wealth and the firm more broadly.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute against key priorities for the CIO business across multiple countries/jurisdictions

  • Develop business cases to drive strategic partnership across Wealth that give Citi a competitive advantage with clients

  • Support medium- to long-term plans and functional strategies requiring coordination and integration in CIO, within Wealth and in the broader Citi organization and ensure stakeholder buy-in for strategic initiatives, including key stakeholders globally

  • Partner with leadership team to set goals for CIO and ensure tracking and ROI measuring are in place for all initiatives

  • Act as delegate for CIO when required in certain meetings and has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on the global CIO team.

  • Establish an effective CIO interaction model within Citi and Wealth including technology, data and analytics, risk and controls.

  • Lead business routines & program manage strategic initiatives

  • Own resource allocation, productivity initiatives and realization of cost efficiency 

  • Drive culture and people initiatives

  • Oversee the design, enhancement, implementation, reporting, and oversight of budgets, financials, operations, human resources and compliance by way of systems, processes, workflows, procedures and the assessment of existing environments and anticipated changes

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets

  • Management responsibilities for a small team, including management of a person(s), budgeting and planning, performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in financial services

  • Strategically minded with track record of execution excellence

  • Hands-on orientation with the demonstrated ability to set up internal processes to communicate and resolve issues

  • Proven financial acumen, critical thinker with ability to provide an impartial, consultative and solutions-oriented approach

  • Comprehensive knowledge of general IT infrastructure, Human Capital Management (HCM) and financial advice-related compliance

  • Demonstrated leadership and management abilities with commitment to client and team member experience, goals of practice and productivity

  • Demonstrated strategic planning, delegation, financial reporting and budgeting skills

  • Consistently detail-oriented, goal-oriented and able to work in a team

  • Excellent communication skills required in order to influence a wide range of audiences

  • Prior success working in a large, highly-matrix and complex organization; able to set priorities and 'triage' in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Technical knowledge, in-depth knowledge of Profit and Loss (P&L) and understanding of end-to-end business operating systems.

  • Customer and client focus; record of achievement in applying a client centric mindset to shape solutions and approaches

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
