We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as a Director, Alternative Investment Specialist, to be based in Singapore.  The Alternative Investment Specialist for South Asia will be responsible for driving education, training, and marketing of alternative investment products across all the client segments of Citi Wealth in Asia.

In this role, you’re expected to :

  • Have a strong background in Alternative Investment products including Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate and Hedge Funds
  • Represent the alternative investment franchise in South Asia, act as a product champion and to drive the growth of the alternative business
  • Build strong relationship with both internal stakeholders and external fund management partners; help manage relationship with senior management and internal sales channels
  • Proactively engage in industry, identify emerging industry trends and evaluate competition to ensure Citi has a competitive product offering.
  • Educate the Advisory teams (Bankers and Investment Counselors) to enhance and improve the proficiency in the alternative investment products.
  • Function as the product expert and develop marketing programs to help drive the inflows.
  • Help develop and manage the pipeline for new product launches. This will require a broad collaboration across various teams including Origination, Product Management, Advisory and the external Fund Managers
  • Help manage relationships with external alternative investment managers in the context of the South Asia’s business.
  • Collaborate with Advisory teams to evaluate client profiles and their exposure to alternatives and produce actionable plan to increase the penetration of the alternative products across the various client segments.
  • Work in close partnership with the Alternative & Investment Manager Solutions (AIMS) team on product management, development, and fund-raising strategies. Help provide the feedback to the AIMS team to ensure any gaps in product offerings are addressed.
  • Attend client meetings with the Advisory teams.
  • Strong execution and implementation ability
  • Help assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • 15+ years of experience which includes managerial/leadership roles.
  • Strong background in alternative investment strategies and products
  • Business development, sales and relationship management experience. Ability to set effective goals with a demonstrable track record of implementing sales program and running focused sales campaigns
  • Experience in driving results through influence/thought leadership
  • Proven execution skills and ability to negotiate client risk appetite
  • Elevated level of emotional intelligence
  • Effective communication skills. Proficiency in Mandarin a plus as role will cover Mandarin speaking stakeholders and end clients
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant advanced qualifications (e.g., MBA, CFA, CAIA, CPA, etc.) preferred
  • CACS Papers 1 & 2 are required for this role
