The Global Trading Profit & Loss (GTPL) system is a cash securities product processing system, primarily designed to calculate, post, and manage the accounting balances & journals for Equity & Fixed income cash products. It performs calculations like realized and unrealized P&L, coupon accruals, and handles various accounting events. GTPL supports hedge accounting, manages intercompany debt, processes syndicate product accounting, and ultimately generates daily journal entries for cash securities that are posted to the firm's General Ledgers and reported to other critical Citi applications.
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Ab Initio Engineer to lead our enterprise-scale data integration and transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep Ab Initio expertise to oversee and optimize our existing ETL ecosystem, while also architecting and executing a strategic migration to modern, open-source, cloud-based technologies.
This role requires a blend of hands-on technical skills, enterprise architecture vision, and leadership to ensure smooth operations, cost optimization, and long-term technology sustainability
Responsibilities
- Be hands-on with coding and software design to ensure adherence to high quality standards and best practices of complex Ab Initio graphs, plans, and parallel ETL workflows
- Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance, metadata standards, and regulatory requirements
- Lead and mentor development teams in both Ab Initio and modern data engineering technologies
- Provide expertise in area of advanced knowledge of applications programming and plan assignments involving large budgets, cross functional project, or multiple projects
- Champion automation, CI/CD integration, and infrastructure-as-code for data pipelines
- Consult with end users to identify system function specifications and incorporate into overall system design
- Allocate work, and act as an advisor/coach developers, analysts, and new team members
- Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and communicate with external parties
Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant experience designing and developing in Ab Initio (GDE, Co>Op, Plans, DML, XFR, partitioning, continuous flows, testing framework, Graph Unit Tests)
- Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in area(s) of Applications Development
- Demonstrated knowledge of client core business functions
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and development skills
- Proven expertise in Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop/HDFS, Hive/Impala, and distributed processing
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- End-to-end experience in planning and executing large-scale modernization or platform migrations
- Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary data engineering teams
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive presentation skills
- Strategic thinker with ability to balance short-term delivery and long-term modernization goal
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD for data pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
