Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tableau Data Analyst Developer to join our dynamic Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in turning complex data sets into compelling stories and actionable insights through the design and development of advanced Tableau dashboards and visualizations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in data analysis and visualization, strong business acumen, and the ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Dashboard Development & Design: Lead the end-to-end development of sophisticated and intuitive Tableau dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that meet stakeholder requirements and adhere to data visualization best practices.
- Requirement Gathering & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business leaders, analysts, and end-users to understand their needs, gather complex requirements, and translate them into technical specifications and effective BI solutions.
- Data Analysis & Integration: Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data from various sources (including data warehouses, relational databases, and flat files). Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Performance Optimization: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of Tableau workbooks and data sources to ensure fast, reliable, and efficient reporting.
- Tableau Server/Cloud Administration: Assist in managing the Tableau Server/Cloud environment, including user permissions, content publishing, data source governance, and scheduling extract refreshes.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior analysts and developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay current with the latest features and capabilities of the Tableau platform and advocate for the adoption of new tools, techniques, and industry best practices to enhance our analytics capabilities.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data sources, dashboards, and analytical models.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 13+ years of hands-on experience in a data analysis or business intelligence role, with at least 4 years of intensive development experience using Tableau Desktop.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in Tableau Desktop, including complex calculations, level of detail (LOD) expressions, parameters, sets, and actions.
- Strong proficiency in writing and optimizing advanced SQL queries.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, relational database design, and ETL processes.
- Proven experience in data visualization principles and dashboard design.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Tableau Certified Data Analyst or Tableau Desktop Certified Professional certification is highly desirable.
- Advanced Experience: Experience with Tableau Prep, Tableau Server/Cloud administration, and embedding Tableau dashboards into web applications.
- Additional Tools: Familiarity with other BI tools -Power BI, and scripting languages for data analysis on python
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Finance, sector is a plus.
