Job Overview
The Special Equities Transaction Group Buyback platform is a key application within the Global Equities space, managing stock buyback plans for major corporations. It automates the daily reporting, calculations, and transactional analysis provided to each active client.
This is a senior-level position responsible for the modernization and re-architecture of this critical platform. In this role, you will be the primary technical owner responsible for transforming the application's technology stack, moving from legacy systems to a modern, robust, and scalable microservices-based architecture.
Responsibilities
- Act as a single-point-of-contact for the technical delivery, operating as a "one-person shop" with strategic and technical guidance from senior management to drive the modernization roadmap.
- Simplify and transform the application's technology stack, leveraging cloud technologies, containerization (OpenShift), and a microservices architecture.
- Design, develop, and implement new services for generating complex client reports, performing calculations, and enhancing data processing capabilities.
- Rapidly adopt and integrate AI toolkits and technologies to modernize and accelerate the development and analysis process, in line with the firm’s strategic goals.
- Partner with multiple teams, including Product Services and Market Data providers, to ensure appropriate integration of functions and identify necessary system enhancements.
- Provide expertise in applications programming and design, ensuring new microservices adhere to the overall architecture blueprint.
- Design and implement a comprehensive, automated integration testing strategy.
- Manage the platform's compute and estate, including hygiene, security, and vulnerability remediation.
- Provide second-line support (including occasional out-of-hours) for the processes and components you develop.
- Maintain a close partnership with regulatory, compliance, and audit teams to ensure the platform meets all requirements.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- 10+ years of relevant experience in core Java application development or a systems analysis role.
- Proven experience leading and executing technology migration projects.
- Strong experience with relational databases and database migration projects (e.g., SQL Server to a managed service).
- Experience with high-performance middleware and messaging systems; familiarity with AMPS is a strong plus.
- Deep understanding of modern infrastructure, cloud technologies, containerization (e.g., Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes), and microservices architecture.
- Proficiency with standard developer tooling, such as BitBucket/GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and build tools like Gradle or Maven.
- A demonstrable interest and exposure to AI tools and technologies.
- A highly motivated self-starter who is comfortable working independently, taking on new challenges, and learning new technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership, autonomy, and project management skills.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
Bonus Points For
- Prior experience developing front-office Trading, Order Management systems within the equities domain.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
