Job Overview
Citi is looking for a Java Developer to join the Equity Derivatives Trade Management team in Pune, building high-performing, enterprise-grade applications that directly reduce operational risk and support business growth across global markets. In this role, you will collaborate with front office, operations, and product development teams to design and deliver scalable backend solutions that shape the future technical direction of high-profile trading platforms. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of functional components and make a measurable impact across teams at one of the world's leading financial institutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, enterprise-grade Java backend applications that improve operational efficiency and reduce risk across the Equity Derivatives business.
- Build and maintain solutions spanning the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and technical design through to deployment and ongoing support.
- Translate business and client requirements into well-structured technical designs, providing effort estimates and clearly communicating delivery approach.
- Conduct code reviews and test case reviews to ensure delivered software meets functional requirements and quality standards.
- Identify and proactively communicate delivery risks with sufficient lead time to protect project outcomes.
- Collaborate with front office, operations, and product teams to understand needs and propose technically sound solutions that serve clients effectively.
- Apply expertise in systems analysis and component-level design, coding, unit testing, and debugging to deliver reliable, production-ready software.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience developing backend applications in Core Java (version 1.7 or above) within an enterprise environment.
- Solid command of object-oriented programming principles, applied consistently to produce maintainable and extensible code.
- Working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to write and interpret queries in support of application data requirements.
- Experience integrating with at least one messaging middleware platform such as Tibco EMS, Solace, or IBM MQ.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Track record of contributing across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, coding, testing, and delivery.
- Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with HTML5 and React.js, enabling contribution to front-end integration work where required.
- Experience working within capital markets, trading, or financial services technology teams, with exposure to equity derivatives or similar product areas.
- Exposure to agile delivery environments, with the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and shifting priorities.
