Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, high-caliber Vice President – Fixed Income Product Owner to take end-to-end ownership of the Fixed Income (FI) Book of Work. In this critical leadership role, you will define and execute the strategic product roadmap across Post-Trade Processing, specifically focusing on Fixed Income Settlement, Confirmation, and Regulatory Reporting.

As a VP Product Owner, you will serve as the strategic bridge between Front Office, Market Operations, Market Controller, and Global Technology Delivery teams. You will manage competing priorities, negotiate complex requirements, and interface regularly with senior leadership to ensure timely and high-impact delivery of strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Book of Work Ownership

  • Take full end-to-end accountability for defining, prioritizing, and delivering the Fixed Income Post-Trade Book of Work.
  • Formulate a multi-year product roadmap aligned with organizational goals, regulatory imperatives, and operational efficiency targets.
  • Translate complex business problems into clear product epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Manage capacity and budget allocations across development pods, optimize resource utilization and release velocity.

2. Domain Leadership: Post-Trade Processing & Regulatory Compliance

  • Settlements: Drive transformation across global settlement mechanisms (e.g., Euroclear, Clearstream, DTC, Fedwire, local market CSDs), fail management, and cash/securities reconciliation.
  • Trade Confirmation & Matching: Lead product enhancements for electronic trade affirmation/confirmation platforms (e.g., Trax, DTCC CTM, SWIFT messaging: MT/MX ISO 20022).
  • Regulatory Reporting: Oversee product compliance with international regulatory reporting regimes impacting Fixed Income (e.g., MiFIR/MiFID II, EMIR, Dodd-Frank, FINRA TRACE, CAT, CSDR).
  • Proactively monitor market structure changes, industry mandates, and central clearing counterparty (CCP) rules to ensure product adaptability.

3. Senior Stakeholder Management & Negotiation

  • Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including Desk Heads, Operations Leadership, Technology Directors, Risk & Control Partners, and Legal/Compliance Officers.
  • Navigate competing priorities across multiple business lines through structured trade-off analyses, data-driven insights, and executive negotiation.
  • Run steering committees, backlog prioritization sessions, and executive status reviews, clearly communicating product vision, risks, and ROI.

4. Agile Delivery & Execution Excellence

  • Act as the dedicated Agile Product Owner across cross-functional engineering and QA squads.
  • Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and acceptance sign-offs.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to quantify product adoption, operational STP (Straight-Through Processing) rates, and risk mitigation.
  • Champion best-in-class product management practices, ensuring adherence to change governance, SDLC frameworks, and audit controls.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Experience & Domain Knowledge

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 8+ years of total financial services / fintech experience, with at least 4+ years in a senior Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst role.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Fixed Income asset classes (Bonds, Treasuries, Repos, Security Lending and Borrowing instruments) and post-trade lifecycle.
  • Core Technical/Operations Acumen:
  • Solid grounding in SWIFT messaging standards (ISO 15022 and ISO 20022), FIX protocol, and trade flow architecture.
  • Comprehensive understanding of bilateral and central clearing, tri-party repo mechanics, and exception handling workflows.
