The Wealth Planning Specialist is a subject matter expert in financial planning and related areas, servicing high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. This role collaborates closely with financial advisors and their clients to provide education on diverse wealth planning opportunities, ranging from fundamental to highly complex. The specialist contributes intellectual capital across the entire wealth continuum and engages directly with clients in appropriate circumstances.
This role requires a collaborative approach, working with field leadership and various internal partners to deliver wealth planning advice to current and prospective clients. A key aspect is also to provide comprehensive education and training to financial advisors. The successful candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in cash flow analysis, investment, insurance, and annuity strategies, secured and total income retirement planning, long-term care analysis, asset protection, and estate planning strategies.
A critical success factor for this individual contributor role is the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, non-technical language. This skill is essential for effective communication with both clients and internal stakeholders, including advisors and field leadership. The specialist will adopt a goal-oriented approach with clients, requiring continuous learning of available products and platforms across US Wealth to identify and leverage opportunities for client engagement.
As a Wealth Planning Specialist, you will leverage relevant industry experience and expertise to assist Financial Advisors with helping their clients articulate their short to long-term goals and take the steps necessary to reach their goals.
Responsibilities:
Train and encourage Financial Advisors to develop and adopt a culture of leading all their meetings with Financial, to have a deeper understanding of their clients, their personal and financial needs, and goals.
Responsible for driving quality financial planning volume in the territory to find opportunities to increase AUM, revenue, and assist with discovering outside assets and developing solutions that include products and services at Citi.
Provide ongoing education and coaching to Advisors and Relationship Managers to deliver planning solutions around the pillars of Financial Planning, Financial Planning Concept, Practice management and resources.
Collaborate and work closely with internal partners - Investment, Insurance and Annuity Specialists to deliver comprehensive and holistic solutions seamlessly to clients.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high degree of interaction with the Financial Advisor, Relationship Managers and Wealth Executives.
When appropriate, have joint meetings with Advisors, to conduct discovery or deliver plans to their clients in person, via zoom or phone.
Act as a subject matter expert in Financial Planning areas and be available to answer general planning questions.
Extensive Knowledge of planning software such as Money Guard Pro, NaviPlan is important, to train, assist and develop Plans for Advisors.
Qualifications:
5-8 years of experience, with 5+ years of financial planning and/or estate planning experience required
Successful candidates will be able to incorporate superior time management skills, financial planning acumen, and strong communication skills to support the firm's clients in addressing a spectrum of financial and investment needs:
FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66
CFP, CPA, or JD/LL.M. designations preferred
Familiarity with NaviPlan or MoneyGuide Pro planning software preferred
Broad understanding of financial services, investments, and all aspects of planning strategies and concepts
Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Client-centric skills including excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to build field relationships through outreach emails, telephone calls and branch visits.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to adapt easily to a constantly changing environment, juggle multiple tasks and prioritize work to maintain efficiency
Service oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to multitask and manage competing appointments on calendar
Must be able to communicate technical or complex concepts understandably
Able to work autonomously and operate cohesively in a team environment
Limited travel (approx. 50%) within assigned region
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

$121,200.00 - $181,800.00
