Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders, including our colleagues. The Business and Corporate Communications team is a nimble team within ESPA that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, ranging from executive communications and public engagements to quarterly earnings and corporate reputation programs as well as communications that support our lines of business. The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media, drive engagement with colleagues and develop external and internal digital communications for a global workforce of more than 200,000 colleagues. Within Citi, the team works with many internal partners, including senior leadership, and regularly coordinates closely with other members of the ESPA team across the world.

The Citi Technology team is part of Operations and Technology and works in full partnership with business teams to develop highly innovative and customized solutions and products to deliver on our clients' needs.

The Technology team delivers customized solutions by utilizing cutting edge technologies to deploy everything from cloud computing to mobile solutions to APIs, creating a competitive advantage for Citi and our clients. Working in a fast-paced environment, Technology colleagues are focused on creating solutions that provide Citi's institutional clients with unprecedented access to capital markets intelligence and execution.

About the Role

The individual in this role is a key member of the Corporate Communications team within ESPA. You will work with senior leadership and partners throughout Technology and across the firm to build and help drive the internal communications infrastructure and external visibility for the Technology organization’s institutional business.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with ESPA and the Technology team, develop and drive both broad and targeted communications efforts
  • Engage directly with senior Technology leaders and provide critical internal communications support for institutional  Technology businesses
  • Develop innovative written communications and coordinate with the corporate communications team to ensure syndication of key messages and Technology successes across Citi
  • Work with both the content management system (for intranet) and the team’s email distribution tool to upload/manage/distribute content
  • Help manage town halls, colleague engagement meetings, conferences and written and video messages
  • Support model for external communications, including developing and executing a communications strategy, ensuring delivery of both the strategy and corporate messaging priorities
  • Support the profiles of Technology leaders across key press features, speaking engagements, social media profiles and more
  • Manage technology and innovation communication efforts across a variety of earned, owned and sponsored communication channels
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications, marketing or another related field
  • Knowledge of communications or marketing and at least six years of increased responsibility for business management, preferably with a large and complex organization
  • The ability to think creatively and deliver engaging solutions to communications needs, ones that cut through the noise and describe complex issues in simple language.
  • Experience in a tech firm, financial services firm or in-house technology group, working directly with tech teams to promote their work across a broader organization
  • Strong communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and ability to influence senior executives
  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive professional attitude
  • A team player who will implement initiatives effectively and motivate others to carry out their work
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team based environment within a heavily matrixed organization
  • Track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
