Spring by Citi is Citi’s global digital payment acceptance service for enabling ecommerce (B2C and B2B) funds flow for enterprise merchants across 25 markets around the world. Spring by Citi offers acceptance of locally-relevant payment methods and seamless access to Citi’s industry-leading treasury solutions and banking services across Citi’s proprietary global payments network. In combination with Citi’s embedded FX, enhanced reconciliation and reporting capabilities, Spring by Citi offers a wide range of services across clients’ corporate treasury, payment operations, marketing and sales teams.
About the role
As Client Access & eCommerce Integrations Lead, you will lead the strategic development of Citi’s payment gateway and API ecosystem that enables access to Spring by Citi our digital payment acceptance service ensuring seamless connectivity with e-commerce platforms and client systems. This role requires deep expertise in payments, fintech infrastructure, and banking, driving innovation in transaction processing, merchant acquiring, and API-led payments.
You will bring a deep understanding of merchant payment trends, technical decision-maker buying behavior, competitive positioning, sales strategies and client solutioning to emphasize Citi’s unique value proposition and grow the business.
Responsibilities
Creates a product vision aligned to business priorities and corresponding roadmap to delivery
Conceptualize, plan, prioritize, and coordinate the design and delivery of products and features by using Agile processes and methodology and serves as product ambassador within user community
Has direct interaction with business managers, technology, and sales to understand market, industry and client trends, and incorporate them into the product & solutions strategy
Define and execute the API roadmap, ensuring security, scalability, and compliance with regulations.
Lead the development of RESTful APIs and SDKs, enabling frictionless payment integrations.
Work closely with engineering teams to optimize performance, developer experience, and interoperability with financial systems.
Oversee integrations with 3rd party platforms and payment orchestrators, ensuring seamless payment acceptance for merchants.
Drive innovation in embedded payments, tokenization, and alternative payment methods (BNPL, digital wallets, crypto).
Collaborate with merchants, fintech partners, and developers to enhance integration capabilities.
Engage with internal stakeholders (risk, compliance, treasury, engineering) to ensure regulatory adherence (PCI DSS, ISO 20022, Open Banking).
Partner with sales and business development teams to scale adoption across merchants and platforms.
Conduct competitive analysis to benchmark API and e-commerce offerings against industry leaders.
Advisor to key business and technical stakeholders through leading technical discussions with prospective clients on end-to-end solutions
Foster industry engagement through external content through papers at conferences and other speaking events.
Understanding a client’s technical challenges and designing creative approaches to simplify their access to Citi’s solutions, while assisting the customer in planning and executing on their transformation journey
Qualifications
Bachelor's/University degree
8+ years in product management, payments, or fintech APIs, with at least 5 years in banking or PSP environments.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive API strategy, and influence executive stakeholders.
Deep understanding of payment authorization flows, API integrations, developer portals, and microservices architecture.
Experience with PCI DSS, PSD2/Open Banking, AML/KYC requirements, and merchant acquiring standards.
Experience working with banks, PSPs, payment gateways, or large-scale e-commerce platforms.
Knowledge of real-time payments, digital wallets, card networks, and alternative payment methods.
Strong analytical mindset, balancing business strategy with technical execution.
