Job Overview

Citigroup Global Markets Inc. seeks an Investment Banking Sr. Associate for its New York, NY location.

Duties: Support the private equity client coverage (Global Asset Managers) group within Citi’s Investment Banking business. Prepare industry, business, and financial analyses related to strategic advisory and capital raising solutions for clients across all industries as well as for Citi’s private equity clients. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Equity Capital Markets, and Debt Capital Markets across multiple geographic regions to drive transaction execution. Audit the creation of various detailed 3-statement financial models to value existing and potential private equity portfolio companies, with an emphasis on calculating cash flow and future debt paydown for potential underwriting of debt financing associated with a transaction. Engage in direct discussions with internal credit risk professionals to address diligence questions and educate our partners on the credit and industry. Assist with content and flow for internal and external materials (pitch decks, credit memos, valuation materials, etc.). Present industry overview and credit and equity investment highlights to equity and risk committees, respectively, and conduct due diligence into the company and industry as needed to address requirements and to gain comfort around Citi’s commitment or involvement in each transaction. Leverage deep understanding of internal requirements and processes (from credit underwritings to compliance) to drive and complete internal transaction processes and serve our clients. Develop client relationships alongside Managing Directors and proactively seek to understand and address the evolving needs of our clients. Participate in business origination and development efforts with Managing Directors by coordinating client meetings, creating discussion materials, and working on follow-up items that come out of discussions. Research assets in the market to form an educated view on potential buyside opportunities for clients which could lead to a mandate. Support information and diligence flow on sell-side/buy-side sale processes, including negotiating timelines and requests with various advisors. A telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite in accordance with Citi policies and protocols.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field, and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related finance occupation preparing financial analyses and models. Two (2) years of experience must include: Providing advisory services on various corporate finance topics including capital raising, risk management, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), valuation, and capital deployment; Leading complex financial analyses by developing, reviewing, and presenting financial models related to valuation, M&A, and credit underwriting; Analyzing and interpreting financial statements, equity research, economic data, credit rating reports, and accounting and business diligence, in support of client transactions and advisory assignments; Preparing and presenting credit analyses for senior stakeholders and decision-makers in support of credit underwriting and capital markets transactions; and Utilizing financial data platforms including Bloomberg, FactSet, and Capital IQ. 40 hrs./wk.
