Job Overview
The Automation Group Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of automation professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Team & Program Leadership:Manages multiple teams and functional areas, ensuring appropriate staffing, and provides overall direction, coordination, and completion for complex programs and projects, including associated dependencies. Directs subordinate performance and personnel actions.
- Compliance & Risk Management:Oversees compliance with ITeSS processes and procedures, manages policy and procedure adherence, contributes to defining standards, and ensures appropriate risk assessment and control in business decisions, safeguarding the firm's reputation and assets.
- Operational & Control Optimization:Evaluates complex, critical, and high-risk issues to develop long-term control designs and automation solutions that reduce manual processes and associated risks. Drives qualitative and quantitative analysis of current controls, identifies process improvements, and develops end-to-end process maps.
- Innovation & Efficiency Driving:Assesses innovation opportunities, identifies new sources of growth and efficiency, optimizes business and operating models, and simplifies organizational structures to enhance operational efficiency across USPB.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence:Collaborates extensively with business and function managers to identify opportunities for growth, processing competence, and cost optimization. Builds relationships and influences senior stakeholders, effectively communicating complex concepts and negotiating outcomes at senior levels.
- Project Planning & Execution:Develops, maintains, and manages rigorous project plans, including resource requirements, relationship management, and task management, ensuring delivery within required outcomes and budget.
- Executive Communication & Best Practices:Develops compelling executive presentations to persuade decision-makers and develops and shares best practices and lessons learned across the enterprise.
- Mumbai Automation Site Lead:Serves as the Lead for the Mumbai location within the USPB COO organization.
Qualifications:
- 13+ years of relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services, plus 2-3 years of Managerial experience
- Proficiency in data analytics and automation tools including SAS, Tableau, Appian, Xceptor, and other low-code/no-code automation platforms.
- Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and AI programming principles.
- Demonstrates consistent track record of having worked as a Program or Project Manager, or working on large, strategic cross-functional projects
- Strong business analysis competency with historic success in shaping opportunities via conceptual thinking and abstract problem-solving capabilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, appreciation of the enterprise data vision
- Experience creating and being a champion for a positive risk culture that supports sustainable business growth through transparent engagement, a partnership approach, and a no-tolerance approach for behavior that exposes the organization to an inappropriate amount of risk
- Experience creating and executing against frameworks that improve the quality and value of data to meet regulatory commitments and enhance risk management. Experience leveraging glossary, lineage, and data quality tools to drive governance
- Working knowledge of Data Operating Model practices, Data Governance and Data Compliance within large, financial services firms
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
