Job Overview

The Risk Reporting and Exposure Monitoring role is critical for effectively managing and communicating the company's risk exposure. Individuals in this role provide a comprehensive analysis and reporting of inherent risks across various portfolios, and regulatory reporting in compliance with standards like FR Y-14. By providing a clear view of the company's risk profile, this role enables informed decision-making. This role is key to the company's overall risk management strategy, regulatory compliance and protection of financial health and reputation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct independent analysis of complex business initiatives and emerging risks, providing crucial insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of economic and regulatory landscapes, proactively identifying how they could potentially impact the organization's risk profile.
  • Develop advanced quantitative models and tools to enhance risk measurement, monitoring, and reporting capabilities, focusing on risk exposure and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive risk reports for senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders, effectively communicating inherent risks across various portfolios and regulatory reporting requirements like FR Y-14.
  • Collaborate with risk managers, business line representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and action plans.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in stress testing and risk management by participating in industry forums and regulatory discussions.
  • Mentor junior team members, promoting professional development and enhancing the team's overall effectiveness in risk reporting.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the field of risk reporting, adapting the latest industry trends for application within the job and business.
  • Apply commercial awareness and advanced judgment in making risk-based decisions that significantly impact the function or business.
  • Negotiate internally at a senior level using excellent communication skills, occasionally handling external communication as required.
  • Contribute significantly to the company's overall risk management strategy, regulatory compliance, and protection of financial health and reputation through effective risk reporting and exposure monitoring.

  • Proactively identifies and acts on opportunities to manage risk through streamlining processes, eliminating redundancies across teams, and reducing over-customization.
  • Leads teams to strengthen controls that support client satisfaction and operational effectiveness; creates a culture in which all team members take accountability for managing risk.
  • Guides the team in solving complex business challenges by taking time to gather data, uncover root causes, and identify sustainable solutions.
  • Leads teams to continuously raise expectations; inspires them to exceed performance goals and deliver the best possible work.
  • Role-models, educates, and holds the team accountable for doing the right thing for clients and Citi, in all situations, even when difficult

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of teams and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications: 

  • 15+ years of experience, including 8-10+ years' managerial experience
  • Certifications such as CPA, FRM or CFA are a plus.
  • Exposure and achievement in large scale regulatory facing change programs.
  • Experience in managing complex, high-stake projects involving regulatory compliance or changes.
  • Ability to navigate the regulatory environment and develop compliance strategies.
  • Familiarity with Citigroup's risk processes and practices.
  • Direct involvement in processes such as CCAR, CECL, IFRS9, and regulatory stress testing, including understanding the regulatory requirements surrounding these processes and ensuring compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel/VBA, Word, PowerPoint) and SQL, now expected to leverage these tools in large scale regulatory facing change programs.
  • Enhanced written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clearly explaining complex problems and solutions to diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly developed presentation skills, now critical for presenting to senior leaders and driving strategic decisions.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior leaders, showcasing the ability to influence and drive consensus at higher organizational levels.
  • Advanced project management and organizational skills, now critical for managing high-stake regulatory change projects across a highly-matrixed organization.
  • Comfort navigating and leading within complex, highly-matrixed organizations, indicating a progression from simply working within such structures to leading and influencing their direction.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory environment and Citigroup's risk processes and practices, demonstrating an evolution from a deep understanding of the banking domain to particular expertise in regulatory matters.
  • Direct involvement in regulatory processes such as CCAR, CECL, IFRS9, and regulatory stress testing, indicating a specialization within the risk management domain.

Education: 

Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
