Job Overview
Vice President, Financial Crimes Risk Management
Overview:
The Vice President (VP), Financial Crimes Risk Management will support the execution of financial crime risk management strategy for Citi’s Banking business. This role is a critical component of the First Line of Defense (1LOD) and covers the Corporate, Investment, and Commercial Banking businesses. The VP will be responsible for identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial crime risks, as well as supporting the implementation of policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with AML, Sanctions, and AB&C regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of Financial Crime, Fraud and Conduct risk AVPs.
- Work collaboratively with the team and stake holders to analyze and review typologies to establish review processes.
- Utilize pertinent information to write clear and concise summary on the findings of the investigation and advise senior management on next steps.
- Timely escalate matters which impact the timelines of reviews, closely track completion of all initiatives.
- Share key learnings and inputs for development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with AML, Sanctions, and AB&C regulations and Managing Financial Crime Risk.
- Make recommendations to senior management on next course of action – either relationship retention or termination when warranted considering firm’s reputation, and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by applying sound ethical judgement.
- Development and delivery of effective training programs to raise awareness of financial crime risks and compliance requirements.
- Manage strategic initiatives and portfolio reviews to enhance financial crime risk management capabilities.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:
- Proven expertise in identifying, assessing, and implementing effective mitigation strategies for emerging and existing financial crime risk areas. This includes a strong ability to conduct thorough reviews, perform data analysis, and establish monitoring mechanisms to detect suspicious activity and trends.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex data, analyzing results, and generating comprehensive ongoing reports
- Experience of working in a global, dynamic environment and ability to work independently and under pressure to manage deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and senior stakeholders and preparing business presentations.
- Experience with Know Your Customer (KYC), complex banking products, performing analysis of customer information/transactions, conducting customer reviews and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) is preferred.
- Experience with managing projects and preparing management updates is preferred.
- Knowledge of the laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), The USA Patriot Act, OFAC, FinCEN requirements, and SAR requirements is preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Certification as a compliance professional (CAMS, CGSS, CSS, ICA) preferred.
Experience: 10 years + Industry experience.
