Job Overview

Whether you’re at the start of your career or looking to discover your next adventure, your story begins here. At Citi, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your skills and make a difference at one of the world’s most global banks. We’re fully committed to supporting your growth and development from the start with extensive on-the-job training and exposure to senior leaders, as well as more traditional learning. The Citi Advantage Cobrand Acquisitions Risk & Controls Lead is responsible for building, maintaining, and executing a robust control framework across Cobrand Partner channels and Partner-Generated Campaigns. This pivotal role drives the "Operating in Control" (OIC) agenda for the Cobrand portfolio, providing comprehensive oversight of issues and escalations, coordinating internal and external exams, and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of the Process, Risk, Control, and Monitoring (PRCM) framework—from initial design to annual assessments and ongoing monitoring. Additionally, the Lead owns the end-to-end authorship and maintenance of the Cobrand Desktop Manual, a critical cornerstone of OIC documentation.

Ultimately, this individual ensures that Cobrand operates in a highly controlled environment across both existing and emerging channels and products. Proactive oversight is critical; without it, channels risk falling short of management expectations across the Cobrand partner portfolios. With aggressive partner commitments and channel growth plans slated for 2026 and beyond, this role serves as the epicenter of our control framework. Success requires cultivating deep, collaborative partnerships with key internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, including In-Business Control, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Product/Marketing owners. A rapid onboarding and deep understanding of the Marketing Organization’s operational dynamics are essential for immediate impact.

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • Serve as Operating in Control (OIC) Co-Champion for Cobrand Acquisitions, establishing clear accountability and streamlined processes across key pillars: Issues Management, Exam Support/Coordination, PRCM/Control Maintenance, and Desktop Manual ownership.

  • Rapidly master the marketing and acquisition business model to effectively understand, articulate, and influence critical points of intersection with the OIC agenda.

  • Champion and elevate risk and control standards, ensuring their consistent, equitable application while exercising sound, long-term risk judgment.

  • Implement and execute robust risk and control practices across the Marketing & Franchise Development organization, embedding proactive foresight, risk anticipation, and preventative control solutions.

  • Deliver on Citi’s regulatory transformation commitments, driving process and control excellence to achieve frictionless execution and radical simplification.

  • Cultivate proactive risk management practices across the broader team, championing a best-in-class risk and controls culture.

  • Maintain a perpetual state of audit and exam readiness; deliver high-quality walkthroughs and artifacts to reviewers, while prioritizing and executing against regulatory commitments, including Consent Order requirements.

  • Escalate and permanently resolve identified issues in a timely manner, ensuring full compliance with organizational expectations and enterprise procedures.

  • Deliver compliant, safe, and customer-centric operational excellence through the rigorous design of business processes and the flawless execution of day-to-day controls.

  • Proactively identify control gaps, process deficiencies, approval discrepancies, and compliance risks, driving swift escalation, remediation, and resolution with key stakeholders.

  • Lead process improvement, automation, and workflow optimization initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, improve review accuracy, and minimize manual effort.

  • Serve as the primary Records Retention Point of Contact (POC) for the Cobrand team, partnering with the Business Records Management Officer to maintain the Cobrand Record Inventory and execute compliance activities.

  • Partner with technology teams to implement system enhancements, testing protocols, and process innovations that drive user adoption, operational effectiveness, and control consistency.

  • Foster a culture of deep accountability, continuous improvement, and rigorous governance, compliance, and operational excellence within the Cobrand team.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, supporting the evolving needs of the business.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • 8–13 years of experience in Financial Services, with a strong preference for experience in Marketing, Risk, or Control management.

  • Proven track record of advanced project management, with exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder-influencing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a high-stakes environment.

  • Ability to seamlessly step into the role, pick up ongoing programs mid-stream, and drive them to successful completion.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, creative problem-solving skills, and a deep sense of personal ownership.

  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines within a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and matrixed environment.

  • High proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with a proven aptitude for quickly mastering new systems, platforms, and software.

  • Strong personal accountability, decisiveness, and alignment with a high-performance work ethic culture.

  • Experience managing complex partner relationships and/or external vendor engagements.

  • Highly organized self-starter capable of establishing clear goals and consistently driving measurable results.
