Job Overview

The Credit Risk Group Manager leads independent assessments of classified or delinquency‑managed exposures within complex review entities and oversees end‑to‑end execution of ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews. The role is responsible for evaluating portfolio quality, emerging risks, and the adequacy of credit analysis, risk ratings, and classifications in alignment with internal credit policies, review methodology, and regulatory expectations. This position reviews and approves assessment documentation, directs and quality‑checks analytical work performed by review teams, and manages engagement with review entity management, including remediation evaluation and validation. The manager role proactively escalates significant risks and review findings, resolves complex stakeholder issues through sound judgment and targeted analysis, and provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to ensure consistent, high‑quality review outcomes and strong risk oversight.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead assessments of classified or delinquency managed exposures within assigned complex review entities, ensuring consistency with industry leading practices and conform to all internal credit procedures/policies, and all related regulatory expectations.
  • Assess whether credit risks are appropriately identified, monitored, and managed, and evaluate alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Oversee ongoing monitoring and periodic review activities, evaluating portfolio quality, emerging risks, and the adequacy of credit and exposure analysis, risk ratings, and classifications; assess the effectiveness of credit risk processes, practices, and staffing capacity to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate assessment documentation, review reports, and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with established credit risk review methodology.
  • Review relationship level testing and analytical work performed by assigned review team members or other contributors, ensuring thoroughness, quality, and sound application of the credit risk review methodology.
  • Oversee engagement with review entity management through ongoing monitoring activities and corrective action follow-up, including evaluation of remediation plans and validation of their effectiveness after implementation.
  • Proactively escalate significant concerns, emerging risks, and key review findings to senior management or senior stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex stakeholder issues by applying sound judgment, conducting targeted analysis, and recommending practical, risk appropriate solutions to address identified concerns.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff by coordinating workflows, identifying development needs, and offering coaching to strengthen analytical and review capabilities.  

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years previous experience required                                                                                                                                                                                 
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk management and Credit Risk Review practices within a banking or financial services environment, including portfolio assessment and emerging risk identification.
  • Proficiency in credit analysis, risk rating processes, Credit Assessment Document preparation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of Corrective Action Plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the quality of credit analysis, identify emerging risks, and apply sound judgment under pressure while balancing near‑ and long‑term impacts.
  • Experience supervising Credit Risk Review entities and analyst teams, including workflow organization, staffing assessments, coaching, and performance accountability.
  • Proven project and task management skills across regional and global initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality work products.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑management skills, with the ability to proactively escalate issues, communicate emerging risks, and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Advanced compliance and governance expertise, including adherence to banking laws, regulations, and internal policies, and preparation and approval of official review documentation.
  • Ability to integrate AI‑enabled insights into independent assessments to enhance risk judgment, efficiency, and overall review quality

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
