Position Overview:

The Applications Support Senior Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating global application support operations across critical business systems, ensuring the stability, availability, and continuous improvement of production environments. In this senior leadership role, you will act as a trusted partner to senior business leaders, managing cross-functional teams and shaping the strategic direction of application support at a global enterprise scale. If you thrive in complex, fast-paced environments and are ready to own delivery outcomes that directly impact Citi's clients and operations, this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage one or more application support teams, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring consistently high standards of service delivery across all supported systems.
  • Provide technical oversight across multiple applications and platforms, maintaining a holistic view of the production environment for both technology and business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate controlled resolution of incidents and problems at a global enterprise level — including prioritisation, escalation, root cause analysis, and follow-through to closure — remaining calm and structured under pressure.
  • Champion application stability initiatives, including improved monitoring, failover capabilities, and resiliency improvements, to maintain high availability for business-critical systems.
  • Partner closely with development managers to review outstanding issues, track long-term strategic fixes to resolution, and align support strategies with the broader objectives of technology and business teams.
  • Manage resource planning, contribute to budget decisions, and take accountability for the quality, timeliness, and delivery of outcomes across the support function.
  • Develop and evaluate team members through ongoing performance management, coaching, and people decisions including hiring and development, while deputising for the regional support manager as needed.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in line with audit, compliance, and risk management standards, maintaining transparency and accountability across control frameworks.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in an Application Support role would be an added advantage, but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical support or operations teams, with ownership of performance, resource allocation, and delivery outcomes.
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies, Spark, or SQL in the context of supporting data-intensive platforms.
  • Highly effective communicator with a confident, commanding presence — able to engage large and senior audiences, lead structured discussions, and exchange complex information clearly across regional and global contexts.
  • Skilled at planning and organizing workloads across multiple teams and priorities, with the ability to remain analytical and decisive during high-severity incidents.
  • Ability to consult with business clients and development managers to understand user objectives and translate them into effective support strategies.
  • Clear and consistent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging appropriately for varied stakeholders including technology partners, operations leaders, and senior business heads.
  • Awareness of audit, compliance, and risk management principles as they relate to production support environments.
  • Highly assertive communications skills, commanding personality. Ability to engage a large audience and lead the discussion with clear, articulate, and highly assertive communication. Must show confidence in all communications
  • Experience with application support would be an added advantage, but not essential
  • Effectively share information with other support team members and with other technology teams
