Job Overview
Citi Services is one of Citi’s five interconnected businesses and at the heart of Citi’s global network. Citi Services includes Treasury & Trade Solutions (TTS) and Investor/Issuer Services. TTS provides an integrated suite of Liquidity, Payments and Trade/Working Capital solutions to multinational corporations, financial institutions, public sector organizations and increasingly mid-sized corporate clients. Investor/Issuer Services provides global institutional clients a wide range of solutions, including custody, fund services, execution services and issuer services.
Capital optimization is a critical area for Citigroup and represents a significant challenge facing the financial services industry. As a firm, our ability to effectively lead in this area will be a significant determinant of our future competitiveness. It also helps satisfy a regulatory requirement for enhanced connection between strategic planning and capital planning.
The Balance Sheet and Capital Management (BSCM) team is responsible for ensuring an effective and efficient use of Services’ balance sheet with the goal of improving return on capital measures. The team coordinates and collaborates closely with colleagues in Liquidity Management Services as well as Investor/Issuer Services. The Capital Integrity and Analysis VP provides vital support in managing Services’ RWA capacities. Key benefits include development of specialized capital knowledge, experience developing and executing complex analytical processes, exposure to senior leadership and multiple products across Services, and working in a rewarding, creative, and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will develop relevant capital reporting, identify capital optimization opportunities, and lead the execution and remediation of data quality to ensure allocation of the right amount of capital.
Key responsibilities:
Assess capital metrics on an ongoing basis to identify remediation opportunities that will free up balance sheet capacity and generate incremental revenue for Services
Drive resolution of capital data quality issues and identify root cause of issues by leading and influencing key stakeholders across the organization (e.g. RWA controllers, loan operations, transaction management)
Support Services’ capacity management by actively participating in Capital Management’s ongoing monitoring processes and deep-diving into breach drivers as needed
Prepare timely and insightful capital reporting for leadership that provides critical insight into drivers of variance, highlights potential areas for B/S remediation, and helps influence actions and outcomes (Monthly RWA variance reporting, monthly Stress Capital Buffer /GSST reporting, etc.)
Enhance capital monitoring tools necessary for identifying capital data quality issues by partnering with off-shore analytics team
Assist the Balance Sheet and Capital Management team on the on-going execution specific capital-investment programs that ensure optimal use of capital
Competencies:
Ability to partner well with a range of stakeholders in the firm to mitigate roadblocks and drive objectives to delivery
Ability to navigate large, matrix organization to find relevant personnel to remediate/solve key problems
Ability to “connect the dots” to solve disparate problems and to link one potential opportunity/problem to another
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to connect business strategy with capital usage and understand the complex end-to-end data process for capital calculation in order to effect change.
Innovation mind set, intellectual curiosity and personal drive to peel back multiple layers in order to identify root cause issues
Proven data / analytical skills: experience turning complex information into actionable recommendations and articulating findings in way that helps influence outcomes.
Comfortable manipulating different data sources to analyze and answer business problems.
Ability to work under pressure in a highly professional environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related fields; advanced degree is a plus.
Solid relevant experience in the Financial Services industry
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills
Capital Knowledge: familiar with US regulatory capital rules and internal allocation methodologies is a plus
Wholesale Credit Orientation: Experience working with Risk / Treasury / Finance and Technology / Operations partners in product management or risk capacity a plus
Exposure to RWA, TCE, capital and liquidity measures a plus
Understanding of Risk / Corporate Banking functions a plus
