Job Overview

The FX Partnerships Product team sits within the wider FX Product team in Markets.  This team is responsible for partnering with other divisions within Citi in delivering FX solutions to clients.  Specifically, the team partners with the Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), and Security Services organisations with support FX capabilities. This area is going through significant platform transformation and is critical to Citi's strategic initiative in FX. By bringing on a dynamic individual for this position, Citi aims to:

• Drive Strategic Growth: Accelerate the development and delivery of cutting-edge FX solutions that solidify and strengthen Citi's position as a market leader in Cross Border Payments & Custody.
• Foster Collaboration: Proactively identify and cultivate alliances with external partners leveraging external expertise to enhance Citi's offerings.
• Meet Evolving Client Needs: Ensure Citi's FX products remain at the forefront of the industry, addressing the complex and diverse requirements of our global client base.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced product manager to join our FX Partnerships Product team. This role will be instrumental in driving the strategic development, management, and execution of innovative FX product solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying market opportunities, fostering strategic alliances, and delivering cutting-edge FX products that meet the evolving needs of our clients and enhance our competitive position.  Initially the successful candidate will be working closely with internal partners from Payments, clients, and service providers to develop and enhance cross currency FX capabilities. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Product Development & Innovation

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new FX product opportunities and innovation initiatives focused on Cross Border Payments, aligning with the overall business strategy.
• Work closely to deliver Cross Border Payments transformation journey opening up new opportunities for the FX business.
• Working with management, sales and partners create client driven product roadmaps and strategy informed by market research and competitor analysis
• Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative FX products and services focused on Payments and Trade Finance, leveraging emerging technologies and market trends.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., TTS, Sales, Trading, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk) to ensure product feasibility, regulatory adherence, and successful launch.

Clients & Partnership Management

• Work closely with select clients in partnership with different business units to create compelling solutions
• Source, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships with Citi’s Services business, technology providers, and other external entities that can enhance our FX product offering.
• Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk frameworks.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, fostering collaborative environments for joint product development and go-to-market strategies.
• Monitor partnership performance and identify opportunities for optimization and growth.

Product Lifecycle Management

• Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle for assigned FX products, from ideation to launch, growth, and eventual retirement.
• Work with product managers and elaborate requirements to build cutting edge FX products suitable for Payments & Custody businesses.
• Oversee product testing, validation, and quality assurance processes.
• Monitor product performance, gather client feedback, and iterate on product features and enhancements.
• Ensure products comply with all relevant internal policies and external regulations.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership

• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes impacting the FX market.
• Represent the firm at industry conferences, seminars, and client engagements, positioning as a thought leader.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices within the FX product team

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in product management within the financial services industry, with a strong focus on foreign exchange (FX) products.
• Solid understanding of FX markets, trading mechanisms, payment systems, and regulatory landscape
• Cross currency payments FX experience required
• Proven track record of successfully launching new products and managing product lifecycles
• Experience in identifying, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships, ideally with FinTechs or technology providers

Skills

• Product Management Expertise: Strong understanding of Agile product development methodologies, roadmap planning, and go-to-market strategies.
• Technical Acumen: Familiarity with relevant technologies and platforms impacting FX markets (e.g., APIs, blockchain, AI/ML, cloud computing).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with specific FX product areas such as Custody FX and Hedging Solutions.
• Knowledge of global financial regulations impacting FX.
• Data analytics e.g. python, SQL
