Job Overview

Citi Global Wealth (CGW) brings together the full power of Citi to serve clients across the entire wealth spectrum. The London-based Capital Markets Advisory & Execution Desk is a high-performing front-office unit providing market intelligence, tactical trade ideas, and execution across global cash and synthetic markets.

The Advisory & Execution Specialist will manage and grow a dedicated book of 20–30 sophisticated UHNW, SFO, and MFO clients across EMEA. The candidate will drive commercial performance by delivering actionable, multi-asset advisory (Equities, Rates & Credit, FX, Listed Options, OTC, and Structured Notes) and executing high- and low-touch flows across European and US trading sessions, adhering to strict Best Execution and risk management principles.

Key Responsibilities

Trading, Execution & Liquidity Sourcing

  • Multi-Asset Execution: Execute high-touch and low-touch client flows across Global Equities (Cash, ETFs, Listed Options) and Fixed Income (Rates, Investment Grade, High Yield, Emerging Markets Credit, OTC Derivatives, Structured Notes).
  • Market Sourcing & Strategy: Determine optimal routing strategies and liquidity access points across electronic venues, systematic internalisers, and market makers, calibrated to trade complexity, liquidity profile, and market impact.
  • Session Coverage: Provide continuous market and execution coverage across both European and US market operating hours for active advisory accounts.

Investment Advisory, Idea Generation & Strategy

  • Actionable Alpha Ideas: Formulate and pitch thematic investment strategies, tactical trade recommendations, and relative value trade ideas tailored to sophisticated private client mandates.
  • Research Synthesis: Integrate top-down macro insights and bottom-up analyses from Citi Research and Citi Private Bank (CPB) research to deliver differentiated, high-conviction trade rationale.
  • Market Intelligence & Commentary: Author and distribute leading market commentary, technical/macro updates, and actionable flow summaries for clients and internal coverage teams.

Client Coverage & Commercial Growth

  • Book Management & Revenue Targets: Manage a prime portfolio of 20–30 active UHNW and Family Office accounts, delivering against individual commercial objectives while driving the aggregate EMEA desk revenue budget.
  • Relationship Deepening: Identify scalable revenue opportunities, improve execution turnaround times, and expand product wallet share across covered accounts.

"One Citi" Partnership & Internal Stakeholder Alignment

  • Cross-Franchise Collaboration: Partner with the broader client coverage matrix—Relationship Managers (Private Bankers), Investment Counsellors (ICs), Investment Finance Specialists, and Product Teams.
  • Cross-Divisional Connectivity: Bridge relationships with Banking, Corporate Finance, Markets, and Treasury to deliver the holistic "One Citi" value proposition to institutional-like private wealth clients.

Best Execution, TCA & Risk Governance

  • Best Execution Mandate: Maintain strict adherence to CGW Best Execution policies, regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA / MiFID II guidelines), and market conduct rules.
  • Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA): Conduct rigorous pre- and post-trade analytics (TCA) and regular broker execution quality reviews to quantify execution performance and benchmark slippage.
  • Risk Management & Control Partnership: Assess risks in all trade decisions; actively manage client exposures against limit profiles, suitability standards, and firm-wide guidelines in close partnership with Risk, Credit, and Compliance.
  • Ethical Leadership: Apply sound ethical judgment, ensure compliance with relevant statutory laws, and transparently escalate control and operational issues.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Professional Experience

  • Experience Level: Proven experience in trading, execution, sales trading, or investment advisory experience within Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or Tier-1 Wealth Management / Private Banking.
  • Client Segment Expertise: Direct experience managing or executing for sophisticated UHNW individuals, Single Family Offices (SFOs), and Multi-Family Offices (MFOs).
  • Product Fluency: In-depth working knowledge and track record of executing across:
    • Equities: Cash Equities, Global ETFs, Equity Derivatives, Listed Options.
    • Fixed Income: Sovereign Rates, Corporate Credit (IG / HY / EM), OTC Swaps.
    • Derivatives & Structured Solutions: Structured Notes, Capital Protected Payoffs, FX/Rate-linked structures.

Systems & Technical Capabilities

  • Trading & Execution Platforms: Proficiency in multi-asset EMS/OMS systems (e.g., Bloomberg EMSX, TSOX, ALLQ, Fidessa).
  • Electronic Fixed Income Venues: Hands-on experience with electronic bond trading platforms (Tradeweb, MarketAxess).
  • Analytics: Familiarity with TCA tools, pre-trade cost estimators, and market liquidity analytics.

Competencies & Interpersonal Skills

  • Multi-Tasking & Market Reflexes: Ability to manage fast-moving order flow and risk pricing under high-pressure, volatile market conditions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong sales and pitching capability, articulate verbal presentation skills, and clear, structured written delivery.
  • Team-Oriented & Matrix Collaboration: Ability to operate seamlessly within a high-performing desk while coordinating with the broader coverage and control ecosystem.
  • Market Hours Flexibility: Willingness and capability to cover extended trading windows spanning European and US market hours on occasion
