The role is focused on wholesale credit risk, which includes analyzing the creditworthiness of Commercial Banking clients, assigning risk ratings, reviewing, and challenging credit requests from First Line of Defense, recommending, or approving credit extensions, and providing ongoing monitoring of credit exposures and the credit portfolio. Individuals within this role maintain a balance between risk and return in credit decisions to support sustainable business growth, while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and relevant regulatory requirements. Role also includes supporting the Risk Management organization in developing and/or managing core franchise Risk Management requirements including, but not limited to, stress testing, regulatory requirements/guidance, MFRS9, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Independent Risk Management support to business partners through the provision of an efficient and effective credit process.
  • Independently assess wholesale credit requests for Commercial Banking and provide effective review and challenge to First Line of Defense credit activities.
  • Manage risks through various means, including proactive ongoing monitoring of the portfolio to identify emerging threats and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate any potential risks to senior management, providing regular updates as relevant.
  • Work closely with the Malaysia Risk Management and Commercial Risk Management team in performing portfolio management tasks including portfolio reporting, rapid portfolio reviews, stress testing, MFRS9 and regulatory and/or Board reporting/tasks.
  • Create and sustain a network of strong partnerships with the business and other functions.
  • Support effective and timely administration of the Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) process.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise, strong understanding of products and associated risks.
  • Maintaining and developing knowledge and understanding of Citi’s credit policies/ procedures and regulatory expectations.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of teams and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of experience in similar role, demonstrating proficiency in credit approval, portfolio monitoring, risk management, and financial statement analysis.
  • Familiarity with credit risk processes, standards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Advanced interpretation and analysis abilities related to financial statements and indicators.
  • Expertise in resolving complex business problems independently using analytical thinking and logical reasoning.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a sense of urgency.
  • Proven ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Education

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
