The SVP of Independent Credit and Collections Risk Analytics and Oversight is a senior-level, strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in retail credit operations and collections, and is responsible for leading activities including analytics, portfolio performance monitoring, and competitive intelligence gathering to identify risk opportunities in coordination with the Customer Credit Engagement Oversight team. This is a role within Citi's US Personal Banking Independent Risk team; this 2nd line of defense position is focused on collections and credit operations risk within multiple retail credit products including credit cards, unsecured personal loans, mortgages and home equity. The overall objective of this role is to lead and support strategic initiatives within the team to improve the oversight objectives; challenge the business on capabilities and results through leveraging competitive intelligence, benchmarking, and analysis; support the organization's oversight of the business's execution of intent including data requirements for loan level reviews. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.  

Responsibilities:

  • Through use of data analytics, identify opportunities for enhanced controls, oversight and effective challenge.
  • Build competitive intelligence for Independent Risk through use of industry consultants, financial releases and other available data. 
  • Create process to analyze all available competitive information for leading edge performance intelligence and inform leadership on landscape regularly.
  • Through peer groups and meeting with industry consultants, gain knowledge of available, cutting edge tools to enhance performance and/or compliance
  • Data reasonability checks across multiple MIS and reports; deep-dives into various sources to spot items out of the norm from a policy point of view and investigate further.
  • Consolidating input from the businesses for monthly review decks, posting them in SharePoint, notifying teams about the material, preparing and sending follow-ups of the meetings.
  • Document Meeting discussions in monthly Collection and quarterly Chief Risk Officer (CRO) reviews. Maintain dialogue with businesses to ensure timely completion of follow-up items.
  • Preparation of policy related review materials in conjunction with policy oversight directors.
  • Participate in deep dive reviews on various programs/processes to ensure compliance to policy e.g.- ensure write down/off process is working correctly, loss mitigation steps are executed correctly, etc.
  • Partner with other control functions to keep the team informed of any upcoming rules and regulation updates/changes and evaluate if any global policies need to be changed from collections perspective.
  • Actively participate in Global functional working group discussions and initiatives on Secured and Unsecured Collections.
  • Provide regular feedback on all initiatives, tracking, reviews and reporting emerging trends and opportunities to senior management
  • Establish cross-functional partnerships and networks to contribute to and execute cross-functional and business initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in credit risk management or equivalent training and experience preferably in the financial services industry. Exposure to multiple types of retail consumer asset classes is a plus
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving ability. Can independently structure hypothesis, understand technology environment and query necessary data to perform analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to view data holistically and remain detail oriented to synthesize, prioritize and deliver results with urgency
  • Working knowledge of SAS or SQL programming and MS Office software proficiency required
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication. Excellent written communication through multiple formats including executive-level presentations
  • Candidate must have effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating Risk issues, strength in sustaining autonomous views
  • Proven ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrated work ethic and influencing skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$156,160.00 - $234,240.00
