Job Overview
Citi Investment Management (CIM) is a group within Citi Wealth that manages assets on a discretionary and advisory basis for high and ultra-high net worth clients globally. CIM manages a broad suite of investment strategies within single and multi-asset class products. CIM is currently seeking a Portfolio Associate to join our team of investment professionals and contribute to the investment management and portfolio construction capabilities of CIM’s strategies. The candidate will be responsible for the daily management of CIM portfolios under the guidance of the team’s senior portfolio manager(s).
Job Description: the primary role of the Investment Portfolio Associate is to assist Portfolio Managers (PMs) with the analysis and management of investment portfolios and the overall sales and service support for the CIM activities in Asia. The main functions of the Portfolio Associate are:
Responsibilities:
(1) Assistance in Portfolio Management
Support Portfolio Managers in understanding client investment objectives, portfolio construction, and portfolio execution
Ensure client portfolios are being managed consistently according to guidelines, track account changes and movements and coordinate timely investment for new portfolios and liquidation for closed accounts
Prepare trade orders for portfolios and work in conjunction with PMs and traders to ensure trades are executed
Ensure client special instruction lists are maintained and utilized for pre-trade guideline monitoring
Ensure overdrafts are monitored. Monitor cash and portfolio additions and withdrawals
Act as an intermediary between PMs and operations on administrative matters (i.e. Account opening/ closing assistance, money and security transfers, banking activities, etc)
Work directly with operations on troubleshooting administrative matters
(2) Support in Marketing and Portfolio Reviews
Assist Portfolio Managers with client presentations and portfolio reviews
Assist in the preparation of sales & marketing presentations
Work with Investment Labs on various analysis
Provide account applications and other forms to marketing teams
Provide guidance to marketing teams during the account forms preparation & submission process, account opening/ closing, money and security transfers, banking activities, etc.
Maintain and analyze internal and external performance database
Support PMs in producing and preparing for internal reviews
(3) Research and Analysis
Provide general research support and database maintenance
Work on special projects which involve CIM activities (i.e. new CIM product launch, etc.)
Qualifications:
5-7 years of experience in financial industry preferred.
Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Must have outstanding Excel and PowerPoint skills. Knowledge of visual basic, C#, Python and/or SQL, Morningstar, Bloomberg and Bloomberg’s API functions is highly desirable.
Excellent attention to detail and able to take initiative and function independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels in the organization and work as part of a team.
Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
Understanding of risk factors that drive investment performance.
Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree, preferably in finance, accounting, business or related field.
Strong academic record.
CFA preferred.
