Job Overview

This role is to act as the Artificial Intelligence Business Risk & Control Lead within the Risk Controls team in Risk Management. This role will primarily focus on the various approvals required for AI Use Cases to be implemented in Risk Management to ensure responsible development and control of AI. Additionally, this role will interact with the Managers Control Assessment (MCA) and Process Management teams within the Risk Controls organization to ensure appropriate controls are designed and implemented over AI Use Cases and drive complete, accurate and timely recognition of AI-related risks and controls in Risk’s MCA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide approvals over AI Use Cases in Risk Management in alignment with Firmwide Policies, Standards and Procedures
  • Provide oversight over AI Use Case monitoring results, including regular monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluation of the effectiveness of controls
  • Advise on the risks inherent in AI Use Cases, and appropriate controls to mitigate those risks
  • Manage a team of managers and/or senior professionals by providing leadership and direction through managers.
  • Create an innovative and diverse environment to encourage development and implementation of creative, robust control programs and strategies
  • Make critical decisions that are guided by functional objectives
  • Oversee the execution of AI-related control activities in support of Managers Control Self-Assessment (MCA) program, also known as Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).
  • Drive the AI-related MCA program, including the annual/semiannual/quarterly/monthly attestation, quality oversight and related reporting.
  • Lead the identification, analysis, and assessment of potential AI risks, ensuring prompt identification and remediation of significant control issues and operational events.
  • Drive the accurate and consistent execution of the AI-related MCA in accordance with the ORM Policy & Framework, as well as applicable Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Drive enhancements or improvements necessary to AI Use Case approval processes, monitoring processes, and reflection of AI-related risks and controls in the MCA.
  • Enforce MCA best practices, change activities, and execution consistency across Risk Management in relation to AI-related activities
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of teams and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Skills & Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in operational risk management, compliance, audit, or other control-related functions in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to identify, measure, and manage key risks and controls.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence concepts and best practices
  • Ability to demonstrate sound business judgment.
  • Ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives.
  • In depth understanding of Citi’s businesses and functions and their risk profiles. 
  • Development of new ideas and improvement of current processes to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Ability to provide challenge and make recommendation for risk and controls remediation.
  • Excellent knowledge of the development and execution of controls.
  • Proven experience in control related functions in the financial industry.
  • Proven experience in implementing sustainable solutions and improving processes.
  • Deep understanding of compliance laws, rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Deep understanding of Citi’s Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate complex risk and control activities and processes.
  • Ability to deliver compelling presentations and influence executive audiences.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with strong results orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to engage and inspire across stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional command in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Education

Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred

This role will focus on automation of controls, implementation of data controls, and implementation of risks and controls over AI activities.
