Team Role/Overview

This Senior Vice President role strengthens the CRO team in Germany/Legal Entity Risk Management, focusing on supporting the CGME CRO in managing risk for Citigroup Global Markets Europe A.G. and the broader German franchise. The role involves collaboration with international risk management teams and various control function/business partners, contributing to strategic and regulatory projects. A key focus is the governance of BCBS239 and ESG Risks from a 2nd Line of Defence perspective.

Citi aims to maintain consistent client service while ensuring safety and soundness. The Frankfurt-based EU investment firm (broker-dealer) leverages existing infrastructure and talent while continuing to recruit. The CRO Team manages legal entity risk across all key risk types, provides infrastructure support (risk reporting, capital planning, stress testing), and handles regulatory projects/initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

This role centers on building and enhancing CGME’s BCBS239 and ESG Risk governance from a 2nd Line of Defence perspective. Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing relevant regulatory requirements such as RDARR and EBA guide on ESG.

  • Managing interaction/cooperation with internal (senior) stakeholders, both local and global, from business and other risk segments.

  • Managing interaction/cooperation with regulators, internal and external auditors, including issue remediation oversight.

  • Representing CGME Risk in relevant forums.

  • Handling related communication, escalation, and senior management reporting.

Additional responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing outsourcing relationships for group services regarding BCBS239 and ESG Risks per internal and regulatory requirements.

  • Supporting strategic processes such as Risk Strategy, Risk Inventory, Risk Appetite Statement, ICAAP.

  • Supporting other CGME Risk regulatory matters as needed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • Extensive years of relevant experience (risk management, finance, regulatory preferred).

  • Bachelor’s/University Degree (Master’s preferred) in Business studies, Economics, Quantitative studies, etc.

  • Fluent English (written and spoken), German preferred.

  • Knowledge of MaRisk, CRR, EBA Guidelines on BCBS239 and ESG risks, and strong understanding of risk management principles.

  • Familiarity with regulatory landscape for global banks; ideally, experience in banking, consulting, or regulatory institutions.
