Job Overview
Corporate Regional Markets and Public Sector (CRMPS) Underwriting is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) organization. Underwriting’s mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring and credit administration as a partner to Wholesale Credit Risk and Banking’s shared commitment to ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending.
Staffers have dual responsibility of setting the direction for and leading the analysts while also acting as an Underwriter for a select number of relationships.
This role has responsibility for a portfolio of Corporates, Financials Institutions and Public Sector relationships in the Middle East and Central Asia. The role reports directly to the Underwriting Sub-Cluster Head for Middle East and Central Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountability for ensuring risk analysis of applicable portfolio is consistent with industry leading practices and conforms to all internal credit procedures/policies, and all related regulatory expectations
- Undertake account allocation to various underwriters and lead the workflow allocation on a dynamic basis to support timely support to transactions while meeting KPIs on extension rates, past due ratings and past due CCMs.
- For a select number or relationships, act as the Underwriter working closely with Banking, Product and Risk partners.
- Continuous engagement with applicable Banking and Independent Risk senior stakeholders in the region to so as to understand any concerns regarding execution of risk analysis and/or emerging risks which will need to be addressed by the team
- Execute Underwriting Head plans, strategy and objectives for Underwriting
- Engage in regular dialogue with Underwriters to obtain feedback on analysts and ensure ongoing and timely feedback is provided to analysts.
- Identifying and delivering on the training needs of the analysts.
- Coaching of analysts to sustain a strong credit culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in analysis and execution
- Partnering with the sub-cluster head and the MEA Underwriting Head on internal projects, transformation / productivity initiatives as well as regulatory remediation efforts. Address and escalate emerging risk concerns and to share best practices
- Attract, develop and retain top quality staff including as regards active engagement with regional on-campus recruiting efforts to ensure a robust pipeline of talent
- Support Voice of Employee (VOE) initiatives
Knowledge/Experience:
- Demonstratable financial services experience, including 7-10 years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management or equivalent credit experience
- Deep knowledge of Wholesale Credit Processes and organizational awareness including Underwriting functions, covered portfolios, and processes
- Proficient understanding of policies and procedures with the ability to execute change seamlessly
- Demonstrating the skills aligned with Senior Credit Officer (SCO) designation
- Excellent and thorough knowledge of Citi´s systems
- Significant experience in preparing presentations for seniors
- Outstanding awareness and adherence to the control environment

- Recognized as a skillful manager with a track record of building high performing teams
- Proven culture carrier
- Powerful interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority
- Solid organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manages time and priorities effectively with little to no supervision
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills
Qualifications:
- BA/BSc in Finance or Accounting or higher degree in Business (MBA), or any other related subject
