Job Purpose

The Securities & Derivatives Analyst 2 is an entry-to-intermediate level position responsible for supporting the end-to-end processing of securities transactions in partnership with Trading, Sales, and Operations teams. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the accurate and timely settlement of domestic equity transactions while maintaining a strong control environment and delivering high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in Japanese equity settlement operations, gain exposure to financial markets, and build a strong foundation for a career in securities services and operations. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to strengthen their product knowledge, operational expertise, and understanding of the securities lifecycle through close collaboration with stakeholders across Operations, Markets, Finance, Technology, and Risk functions.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Perform day-to-day settlement processing for Japanese domestic equity transactions, including trade settlement, cash payments, account reconciliations, and general ledger (GL) postings.
  • Monitor and manage settlement activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of transactions while minimizing operational risk and settlement failures.
  • Investigate and resolve settlement breaks, discrepancies, and exceptions by partnering with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
  • Complete daily reconciliations and valuation-related processes accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Participate in periodic General Ledger (GL) substantiation and proofing exercises to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
  • Follow established procedures to identify, investigate, and resolve operational issues requiring research and analysis.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, controls, and overall service quality.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of securities products, operational processes, and the interdependencies across Operations and partner functions.
  • Build effective working relationships through clear and professional communication with colleagues, business partners, custodians, and market participants.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and risk awareness in all activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Citi standards.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and maintain transparency in the management and reporting of operational and control-related concerns.

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • 0-3 years of experience in Operations, Financial Services, Securities Services, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new products, processes, and systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions.
  • A proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to continuously develop professional and technical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and business-level English.

Education
