Job Overview
The Engineer Intmd Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and development of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with a product or product component development within the technology domain
- Conduct product evaluations with vendors and recommend product customization for integration with systems
- Assist with training activities, mentor junior team members and ensure team’s adherence to all control and compliance initiatives
- Assist with application prototyping and recommend solutions around implementation
- Provide third line support to identify the root cause of issues and react to systems and application outages or networking issues
- Support projects and provide project status updates to project manager or Sr. Engineer
- Partner with development teams to identify engineering requirements and assist with defining application/system requirements and processes
- Create installation documentation, training materials, and deliver technical training to support the organization
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in an Engineering role
- Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
- Project Management experience
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
- Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
- Proven track record of operational process change and improvement
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Operational Governance - Risk Engineer (RE) is a Global function that supports all production support related functions in ensuring compliance and critical control management for designated controls and key risk indicators exercised within the USPB Production Management organization.
The Risk Engineer meets regularly with various platform and function managers, officers, and other stakeholders to ensure sustainable operational, infrastructure support and control designs address concerns, training, and building robust control structures within the organization.
The Risk Engineer is an IT Technology specialist performing end to end development, implementation, analysis, execution, management, oversight, and reporting for all critical controls within the supported organizations and platforms, in all locations. The Risk Engineer function proactively identifies risk trends and mitigation recommendations that are reported to management; performs risk/control gap analyses, assesses effectiveness of current controls; identifies, develops and documents recommended new controls and establishes the assessment and reporting cadences. This role carries the onus to actively identify and propose automation possibilities and actions required in proactive response to Generative AI evolutionary needs.
The Risk Engineer manages the Managers Control Assessment process globally, internally for the Global Assessment Unit as required following Risk Management and MCA Framework requirements; and works with various risk management organizations to ensure successful challenge on the robustness of controls and continued upward reporting of the effectiveness of those controls.
The Risk Engineer function participates with all audits where USPBW Production Management is either impacted or in direct audit scope, tracking, reporting, and obtaining audit deliverables for management review prior to submission.
The Risk Engineer Officer relies on developed skill sets and training; however, must always utilize inherent decision-making abilities to address issues, control gap identification and remediation plans, performing control assessment rating and trending.
The Risk Engineer Officer reports to the Global MCA Operational Governance Manager.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
The functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Engagement with Global Operational Governance and USPBW Production Management leadership, SMTs at the VP, SVP, Director, and MD Officer levels in discussions regarding compliance and control as subject matter experts in critical compliance areas affecting the organization.
- Utilizing and navigating systems and tools supporting the Operational Governance function such as CitiRisk, Tableau, Archer, CASP, Service Now.
- Gathering, compiling, and analyzing data to extract information pertaining to critical control analysis at the country, regional, global or risk level as needed.
- Development, implementation & management of reporting structures and metrics used for exception tracking, management oversight, process effectiveness & performance.
- Enforcing the current key processes with intra/inter organizations and performing oversight of management and critical controls within the organization.
- Establishing key performance indicator levels and Key Risk Indicators through active engagement and monitoring of critical processes and functions.
- Participate in all internal and external audits where USPBW Production Management is an executive stakeholder or supplier of data for other audits.
- Perform Audit analysis, deliverable management, Opportunity for improvement identification and gap analysis for all impacting audits.
- Communicating regularly with other departments and key participants to resolve intra-departmental process gaps or breaks, fostering the building of strong, trusting relationships.
- Maintaining, creating/updating process documentation.
- Maintaining entitlement review processes and execution, systems oversight, documentation management and reporting.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement in key processes, driving strategic initiatives and implementing enhancements, managing technical projects including analysis and project tracking.
- Identifying operational issues, investigating for root cause, identifying and developing improvements, driving implementation and or remediation.
- Partnering with teams to ensure seamless implementation of enhancements, or remediation efforts or handover of new functions within the Production Management organization.
- Setting personal and project goals which add value to the Global Governance function, taking accountability for assigned projects.
- Training team members, provision of internal mentoring/coaching, perform advisory role as SME in particular compliance matters.
- Conducting and facilitating initiatives to develop and implement proactive solutions to future operational challenges.
- Mapping key risks and critical controls to Citi policies such as CISS, CTMP etc., to ensure alignment and compliance while addressing gaps as identified through these reviews.
- Acting as an interdepartmental resource to facilitate better oversight practices and control.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one popular programming language relevant to the company's stack (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, Go, Ruby). This includes understanding syntax, common data structures, and basic algorithms.
- Demonstrable knowledge of current COBIT standards pertaining to IT Governance.
- Must be able to example and apply active governance and compliance related methodologies to roles and functions being supported.
- Strong applied knowledge of Citi Policies and key compliance related processes.
- Must have demonstrable intermediate level experience supporting or knowledge of Networking, Unix/Wintel/Distributed systems, Voice, Mainframe/Midrange, Cloud, Communication infrastructure technologies.
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, IE- Excel, Word, etc.
- Intermediate/Expert level ability to perform database queries and extract necessary data.
- Working knowledge of Archer, ServiceNow and other Citi proprietary tools.
- Ability to productively work with minimal or no direct supervision.
- Working ability to communicate with all management levels within an organization, credibility, and ability to influence leaders.
- Analytical and critical thought required to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations, without supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to provide high level updates to senior management, and work with the regional support teams to get results.
- Customer Service skills required.
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (PMI, Agile, etc.) desired.
- Demonstrable ability to identify, implement and maintain “value-add” improvement and efficiency ideas.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science /Risk Management sciences or related course of study, OR equivalent skill set and experience.
- 5+ years working within a technology environment.
- Understanding of server-side concepts, APIs (RESTful), and basic experience with a backend framework (e.g., Node.js/Express, Django/Flask, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails).
- ISACA CGEIT or CRISC Certified is preferred and/ or with commensurate demonstrable experience.
- Familiarity with Generative AI foundations and LLM’s.
- Eagerness to Learn: A strong desire to acquire new skills, technologies, and best practices. Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, especially when explaining technical issues or asking for help.
- Adaptability: The tech landscape changes rapidly, and junior developers need to be able to adapt to new tools, processes, and project requirements.
- Proven experience in directly managing projects and initiatives to closure successfully.
- Proven experience in providing high level reporting to senior management.
- Proven ability to develop efficient and effective processes.
- Proven experience partnering with global and regional support teams.
- Expert experience performing analytics and reporting.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, ability to think strategically and logically.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with multiple audiences (staff, business partners, management) to ensure the highest level of customer service.
