Application Developer, Global Reconciliation Utility (GRU)

Are you passionate about data integrity and building robust systems that form the backbone of a global financial institution? The Global Reconciliation Utility (GRU) is the central Technology Reconciliation partner for all Institutional Data across Citi. Our team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the critical infrastructure that ensures the accuracy and consistency of data flowing through our systems.
We are seeking a seasoned and self-motivated Application Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding Citi's data integrity. You will collaborate with business analysts to understand complex requirements and translate them into sophisticated reconciliation solutions using our proprietary tools. Your work will involve configuring data transmission via various protocols (SFTP, NDM, Kafka, S3), developing ETL jobs, and writing Hive/Spark queries to ensure data is flawlessly reconciled and distributed to downstream consumers.
As a key member of our technical team, you will be a Level 3 support expert, diagnosing and resolving complex incidents, and working closely with upstream and downstream partners to tackle data-related challenges. Your ability to manage deliverables, meet regulatory commitments, and resolve JIRA tickets in a timely manner will be crucial to our success. This is an opportunity for a proactive and autonomous developer to make a significant impact on an enterprise-wide scale.
Key Technical Skills:
- SQL Proficiency: Ability to write, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries; Expertise in data validation, joins, aggregations, and filtering logic.
- ETL and Data Pipelines: Knowledge of ETL tools and processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading; Familiarity with data flow and pipeline troubleshooting.
- Job Scheduling Tools: Experience with tools like Autosys, PMF, or Control-M for job scheduling, dependencies, and calendar settings.
- Data Analysis: Strong skills in analyzing large datasets for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; Familiarity with data formats (CSV, JSON, XML) and data mapping.
- Scripting Languages: Basic knowledge of Python, Shell scripting, or similar languages for automation and data manipulation.
- Database Management: Understanding of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL); Familiarity with database schemas, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Version Control: Experience with tools like Git for managing code and recon configurations.
- Debugging and Troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve issues in data pipelines, recon logic, and job configurations.
- Recon Domain Knowledge: Basic understanding of Capital Markets, data flow, trade life cycle, etc., will be helpful.
Additional Qualifications:
- Total Experience - 8-12 years
- IT Service Management: Experience with ServiceNow (SNOW) for incident and ticket management.
- Agile Project Management: Proficiency in using Jira for tracking tasks, managing backlogs, and participating in sprint cycles.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders.
