Job Overview

The Citi Foundation works to promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities around the world. We invest in community-based efforts that increase financial inclusion, catalyze job opportunities for youth, and reimagine approaches to building economically vibrant communities. The Citi Foundation's "more than philanthropy" approach leverages the enormous expertise of Citi and its people to fulfill our mission and drive thought leadership and innovation. The Program Officer supports key investments within the Citi Foundation’s grantmaking portfolio, collaborating with national and local community organizations to design and implement programs that promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities across the United States.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review proposals and move requests through the approval process in accordance with Citi Foundation policies, procedures, and quality and timeliness goals
  • Manage and monitor individual grant investments and conduct periodic portfolio evaluations
  • Provide project management support and partner with Foundation team members to identify and implement program and process improvements 
  • Support Foundation’s grant and data analysis efforts for internal and/or external reporting    
  • Coordinate relationship management activities with internal stakeholders including Community Relations, Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Government Affairs and various business units to implement Citi’s “more than philanthropy” approach to community impact
  • Represent the Citi Foundation at internal/external events, community meetings, and conferences  
  • Provide subject matter expertise that aligns with Citi Foundation’s economic opportunity focus areas, including but not limited to, affordable housing, small business development, financial health and youth economic opportunity.
  • Convene thought leaders and key stakeholders, such as grantees, funders, researchers, to develop opportunities for innovation and collaboration that promote the Foundation’s knowledge building agenda
  • Stay abreast of relevant research, trends and policy issues and develop ongoing relationships with key stakeholders in the field


Qualifications:

Professional Experience

  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate philanthropy, community development, or complex partnership development.
  • Demonstrated grant-making experience in one or more of the Citi Foundation’s economic opportunity focus areas (e.g., affordable housing, small business development, financial health, or youth economic opportunity).
  • Knowledge of corporate foundation operations and non-profit/foundation compliance.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to distill and convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Management: Experience collaborating with senior leaders to achieve shared outcomes and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
  • Time Management: Superior time management and prioritization skills with the ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

  • Full proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with a specific aptitude for producing data analysis in Excel and creating compelling presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Experience using AI tools to support research, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of grants management software is a plus.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$107,120.00 - $160,680.00
