Job Overview
The Securities & Derivatives Analyst – Checker (C10) is responsible for the review, validation, and control of transactional processes within the Markets business managed by the CSC Markets Colombia team for LATAM countries under existing service agreements, including future migrations. The role ensures strict compliance with the operational control framework, Maker/Checker segregation, and the mitigation of operational, legal, and reputational risks in accordance with Citi’s global, regional, and local policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and operational control frameworks.
- Perform independent reviews and validations of transactional activities, ensuring data accuracy, documentation integrity, and effective Maker/Checker segregation.
- Review and validate the complete transaction lifecycle for Foreign Exchange (FX), Fixed Income (FI), Derivatives, and Money Market (MM) products, including trade capture, processing, confirmation, settlement, and post-settlement controls.
- Monitor operational activities to identify, assess, and escalate operational, legal, compliance, reputational, or fraud-related risks in a timely manner.
- Support daily processing and end-of-day controls, ensuring all transactions are completed accurately and supported by appropriate documentation and audit evidence.
- Partner with local, regional, and global stakeholders to resolve operational issues, drive process consistency, and support service delivery objectives.
- Contribute to process improvement, standardization, automation, and transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, control effectiveness, and operational excellence.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, systems, regulatory requirements, and control frameworks, completing all required training programs.
- Support internal and external audits, risk assessments, control reviews, and management reporting by providing accurate, timely, and complete information.
- Maintain and update operational procedures, process documentation, and control records to reflect changes in systems, processes, and business requirements.
- Participate in business continuity, contingency testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and other operational readiness activities to ensure process resilience and control effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support evolving business, operational, regulatory, and strategic priorities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, International Business, or a related field within the financial services industry.
- Postgraduate degree or specialized training in Capital Markets, Risk & Controls, Financial Analysis, or other relevant financial disciplines is preferred.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
- Basic knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in financial processes.
- Strong understanding of Markets products, including Foreign Exchange (FX), Fixed Income (FI), Derivatives, and Money Markets (MM).
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks, operational risk management, and Maker/Checker segregation principles.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and market practices across LATAM.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial operations, back-office, middle-office, operational control, or related functions.
- Experience in trade settlement, reconciliations, accounting processes, and exception management.
- Exposure to audit processes and control-testing environments.
- Strong analytical and risk-management mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and deadline-driven environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact across regional and global teams.
- Proven ability to collaborate within multicultural and multigenerational teams.
- Adaptability, proactivity, and a strong results-oriented approach.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics, compliance, and a strong risk and control culture.
