Transfer Agency AML Lead (Senior Vice-President)
The role holder is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational execution and delivery of key regional AML and regulatory operational projects driving the scalability and cost effectiveness of the operational teams. This is an operational subject matter expert role.
The role holder will form part of the Global Transfer Agency Management team. The role holder will be expected to make decisions in that capacity and actively participate in the management of the overall global transfer agency operations and contribute to the management, strategic planning and direction of the overall Global Transfer Agency Operations. In this role, the individual will manage a wide-network of stakeholders, including [internal] Client Executive, Product Heads, Technology, and [external] Clients, Auditors, Legal, Regulators and Industry participants.
Role will cover location strategy and end state operating model design and execution, automation projects, regulatory, tax reporting and AML/ KYC initiatives. The role will reside within the Transfer Agency Operations and will require work with teams in a matrix manner or with a small number of direct reports.
In collaboration with TA Technology, TA Product Change and Operational teams onshore and offshore define and execute such initiatives and to deliver the most efficient and effective operational models across each function in TA operations. A close and effective working relationship with internal partners is critical.
The person will be responsible for the delivery of all regulatory and operational aspects of agreed projects within operations, This will include liaising with each operational/ functional teams, gathering and documenting requirements and procedures, including delivering any internal or regulatory needs associated with same ensuring operational readiness.
The role will report into the Global Head of Transfer Agency Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Continually enhance the Transfer Agency service offering through knowledge of competitors, industry and the regulatory environment.
- Identify and validate opportunities for efficiency, automation and cost reduction within each operational function.
- Work closely and collaboratively with other senior operational management to delivery standardised best practice service models.
- Implement best practise processes and controls across locations to achieve high quality service output.
- Ensure regulatory and Citi policy requirements are met from a Transfer Agency perspective, working closely with the TA senior management and with the 2nd line of defence.
- Work with of Transfer Agency Change teams in onshore and offshore locations to design and execute interim and end state operating models for each function for Transfer Agency Operations.
- The role will require delivery of regulatory operational changes areas such as AML, sanctions screening and tax reporting etc.
- Drive the execution of such initiatives from beginning to end.
- Obtain regulatory approvals necessary, including preparing any submissions required.
- Ensure operational readiness ahead of go live.
- Defines key success criteria and metrics to monitor progress versus business goals.
- Leads the identification, escalation and drive resolution of issues
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant Transfer Agency operational experience, including 6+ years of managerial experience.
- Experience should include a detailed understanding of Transfer Agency regulatory environment including AML/ KYC, TTM, CRS/ FATCA reporting in at least one jurisdiction with an awareness from a regional/ global perspective.
- Previous experience in interpreting regulations, liaising with regulators and obtaining approvals is a benefit.
- Demonstrated experience in operational process management and deployment.Demonstrate a consistent track record of driving and delivering operational change.
- Self-starter and ability to work on own initiative and with other stakeholders, including ability to break down barriers.
- Strong strategic leadership and thought process.
- Strong risk, control and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presenting to senior stakeholders and clients.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and experience operating in regulatory environment impacting Transfer Agency.
- Experience across multiple locations would be a benefit.
- Industry participation would be a benefit.
- Strong people development skills, able to develop diverse teams across a global footprint.
- Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.
