Job Overview

Professional Summary

A senior leadership role requiring an experienced and strategic professional to manage and grow a country's commercial banking business, with a focus on mid-corporate clients. This role encompasses full P&L accountability, driving innovation, overseeing client credit relationships, ensuring robust compliance, and leading multiple teams of Relationship Managers. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge, exceptional communication skills, proficiency in local language(s) for market penetration, and a proven track record of developing talent and executing complex strategic initiatives within a dynamic, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Management:

  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Manage the country's commercial banking business with full P&L responsibility (Revenue, Expense, and Net Income).
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Formulate and execute functional strategy, determining the approach to implementation and contributing to future strategic direction for the area(s).
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Drive innovation within the product organization, including solutions provided to clients through partnerships with product specialists and subject matter experts.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Develop inorganic growth strategies through alliances and strategic product development to capture market share.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Initiate and drive transformational initiatives to optimize resources and enhance product financials and profitability.
  • (Country Business Head) Represent the business in senior management committees (e.g., ALCO, CCC, BRCC) and various management forums.

2. Client & Market Development:

  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Lead the management and growth of the business across revenue, volume, and asset dimensions.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Deepen client relationships, proactively anticipate needs, and identify/pursue new clients aligned with the CITI COMMERCIAL BANK (CCB) value proposition.
  • (Country Business Head) Drive customer segmentation, product positioning, pricing, and marketing plans for each client segment.
  • (Country Business Head) Ensure competitive product offerings that meet client needs through seamless integration and packaging of products.
  • (Country Business Head) Develop a network and payment distribution strategy, adapting to new and evolving channels.

3. Team Leadership & Talent Development:

  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Manage multiple teams through other managers, with full responsibility for people management, budget, and planning.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Attract, retain, and motivate a high-performing team of Relationship Managers (RMs).
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Conduct performance evaluations, manage compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • (Country Business Head) Train and develop team members, acting as a 'go-to' resource for opportunities and guidance.

4. Risk Management & Compliance:

  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Appropriately assess risk in all business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup's reputation, clients, and assets.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Citi Policies and applying sound ethical judgment.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Supervise the activities of others effectively and create accountability for upholding compliance standards.
  • (Country Business Head) Ensure that all strategic initiatives meet compliance and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

1. Experience:

  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) 15+ years of experience in commercial banking, with significant experience in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through complex change, with a reputation for retaining, attracting, and developing talent.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Significant experience with commercial credit decision-making authority, including complex capital structures and cross-border transactions.

2. Skills & Expertise:

  • (Mid-Corp Manager) In-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking, with strong commercial credit knowledge and ability to quickly learn new products and services.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Sound judgment and creativity in providing credit/deposit solutions.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Proven managerial skills, with the ability to structure and originate large transactions.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Ability to effectively interact with diverse internal and external constituencies in a complex matrix environment.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to express sound opinions and present viewpoints agreeably.
  • [NEW / HIGHLIGHTED] Proficiency in local language(s) essential for effective market penetration and client engagement.
  • (Mid-Corp Manager) Sharp business development focus and demonstrated innovative approaches.
  • (Country Business Head) Strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of balance sheet.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines and adapt priorities based on data insights.

3. Education:

  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Bachelor's/University degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • (Country Business Head / Mid-Corp Manager) Managerial experience is essential.
