Citi Private Bank is seeking a Senior Investment Counselor to serve as a trusted advisor to ultra-high net worth and high net worth clients across Canada, delivering sophisticated investment strategies and personalized portfolio solutions. Based in Canada, you partner closely with Bankers and specialists to deliver a comprehensive private banking experience across investments, lending, trust, and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary investment advisor for a portfolio of ultra-high net worth and high net worth clients, providing tailored portfolio advice, identifying product opportunities, assessing suitability, and overseeing after-sales execution in partnership with the Banker team.
• Advise clients across a broad spectrum of traditional and alternative asset classes, currencies, markets, and jurisdictions, ensuring each recommendation is grounded in current market intelligence and aligned with individual client goals.
• Deepen existing client relationships by delivering proactive, insight-led investment guidance and developing solutions that integrate wealth planning with private banking services.
• Introduce new ultra-high net worth clients to Citi Private Bank by leveraging an established network, professional reputation, and investment expertise within the Canadian market.
• Engage clients on brokerage activity, execute trades with precision, and provide ongoing guidance that supports confident, informed investment decision-making.
• Identify and develop cross-referral opportunities in collaboration with colleagues across lending, trust, and institutional markets, ensuring clients benefit from the full breadth of Citi's capabilities.
• Uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance and ethical conduct, ensuring all client interactions and business decisions reflect sound judgment, adherence to applicable policies, and transparent risk management.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 15 or more years of experience in investment advisory or private banking, with a demonstrated ability to manage and grow relationships with ultra-high net worth clients.
• Deep expertise in investment solutions spanning traditional and alternative asset classes, with the ability to construct and communicate portfolio strategies tailored to complex client needs.
• Ability to apply sophisticated analytical thinking to evaluate complex investment alternatives and deliver clear, actionable recommendations.
• Strong relationship management skills with the credibility and interpersonal presence to engage and influence senior clients and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including Bankers, specialists, and product partners.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Master's degree, MBA, or other advanced qualifications in finance, business, or a related field.
• Professional designations such as CFA or equivalent credentials that demonstrate technical investment competency.
• Experience working across multi-currency mandates and cross-border investment structures in a private banking context.
• Familiarity with wealth planning concepts and their application within an integrated private banking service model.
