Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer (C12) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in J2EE-based applications and possess a comprehensive understanding of various related technologies. This role requires an individual with excellent analytical skills, capable of understanding complex systems from end-to-end, and proficient in application debugging and cloud deployments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain J2EE-based applications.
- Implement and consume RESTful web services.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including testing and deployment.
- Troubleshoot and debug applications in various environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Ability or interest to migrate legacy applications into microservice architecture.
Required Skills and Experience:
Application Development:
- Well-versed in J2EE-based application development.
- Strong knowledge of Java Servlets life cycle.
- Proficiency with Struts 2 framework.
- Extensive experience with Spring framework, including Spring Web flow.
- Solid understanding of Java Server Pages (JSP).
Web Services:
- Good hands-on experience in developing and consuming REST services.
Application Servers & Infrastructure:
- Good knowledge and experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server.
- Knowledge of cloud deployments, specifically Amazon ECS (Elastic Container Service).
Operations & Debugging:
- Ability to retrieve and analyze logs from Unix systems using shell scripts.
- Proven application debugging skills.
Analytical & System Understanding:
- Strong analytical skills to understand end-to-end system flows, from UI interactions to backend API calls. This includes the ability to trace data flows, identify points of failure or bottlenecks, understand interdependencies between various system components (frontend, middleware, databases, external services), and comprehensively diagnose issues spanning multiple layers of an application architecture. Candidates should be able to visualize and comprehend the entire user journey and underlying technical processes.
CI/CD & Monitoring:
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Lightspeed.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
Methodologies:
- Good process knowledge, especially in Agile development.
Artificial Intelligence:
- Knowledge of Agentic AI development principles.
- Familiarity with Spring AI framework.
